Forum settings (in General)

Can I *please* have my forum settings back? Without the images and borders, please. As it is now it takes much more time to read the posts...

NEVER!!!1!(Capslock FTW) Jon is purging the dial-up users. Our time has come, we shall devote hours of our lives working to afford cable. Seriously though, I wouldn't mind an option.

Did Jon change it? I looked now and can't seem to find it to put it on the old forum style.

I think so Flamey. I always used the setting with no pics and no borders. Loads faster on my psp, and helps with the "Not Enough Memory" bullcrap. I just logged on today and it was preset. It looks a little tweaked and cleaner to me for some reason. I think I'll leave it like this until I start having problems. :D

bart, just turn off images in your browser settings ;) use another browser to surf while CB is loaded...

It's not (only) about the images. I find that the abundant use of borders makes it much harder to scan the messages. Please, give me the old forum style back!

I have to agree with Bartjan, I like the old look of the forums much better than this one and would really like the old one back.

Well, give it a couple days and see if it grows on you. If not I will bring the old style back.

As I said, it looks different than before. I dont find it harder to use, although I understand AOL user concerns.

I agree partially with bartjan -- please set the borders back to have an old style borders, none, but leave the pictures up.

This should definitely be default, I'm thinking, but I'd also like the option to change it back to old forum settings when my dialup feels like being slow and cranky.

OB, when doesn't it feel slow and cranky? Mine always seems slow, but its better than nothing. Personaly I like this setting a lot better.

Aside from being on dial-up myself, speed issue aside, I never did like this style. Isn't that why there was the option to switch styles in the first place? I too would like the old style back.

For those who gave the new style a fair try: verdict?

I never had any problems with how the new style looked. I thought it looked kind of sleek myself with the black and blue theme I have going. Easy on the eyes :D

I vote option, but ONLY because I <3 OB and don't want him to suffer due to the pics he'd have to load up. If everyone had cable I'd vote permanent. GJ on the 'Creator' column in the main pages of the forum too.

I prefer the old style. Much easier to read, and I don't really care much for user portraits crowding up the side.

It did manage to persuade me to upload one, though, so I wouldn't feel left out. :)

I like the new look, but I also want to be able to turn off images, I can live with borders, not the images. Malaysia is a place where ADSL = dial up.

I grew up with the new style so am used to it and quite like it. However, I think that the dark border after the persons name should be between each post though...otherwise the eyes tend to make breaks at the wrong place, making the poster's name appear disjointed.

I had it without frames and user pics back when I started because I had a very very slow machine, and was on dial up. But now broadband everywhere it's user pics all the way. I like it personally.

I like it a lot. Maybe it's just the theme I'm using but i think the borders "clean" up the posts. That and there are some really cool user pics out there you get to see now.

Would it be possible to remove the border around the user images? It would make everything look a lot nicer.. imop.

I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be seeing, but everything looks peachy to me.
However
The 'Active Threads' link on the toolbar is broken - can I have it back please?

See other post; that's a problem with 'fex's script interface.
Try changing it from Sort: Y to Sort: N

Wow.. so basically, the "old" style was the style that you'd see if you were browsing the forums without logging in. Interesting.

I like the new style.
