Consolidated bug report for CB2 (in General)

Post bug reports for CB2 here.

When I first log into CB I should have a tutorial at the bottom of the screen while creating my character and minion. I do not. I also should have some sort of framed material on the left hand side but I do not.

I get a SQL error when I try and fight any character.

After posting this message I tried to fight again. Nothing happened. Nothing was in the lower left hand corner of the browser as if it were trying to actually do anything. All that was there was: "Applet Client Started"

In order to inspect I must click the Refresh link inside the farthest left frame. After I inspect I cannot inspect again until I refresh using the same method. I did clean out my offline content and that didn't improve anything.

My internet went down for a bit, so I was forced to refresh the page for the shop. I got a messagebox: "Apparently you have trouble following instructions. I will autocreate your first Character." But it popped up four times, not just once.


"hmm, there should be some tutorial text here. looks like you found a bug." Not sure what I did to cause this. Might be related to above.

When I click on higher or lower characters to fight in the left hand frame I am redirected to my "main" screen displaying my minion, equipment, and unequipped items. Photo here: Click here.

I am having to click the refresh button on the left frame in order to fight. This occurs when I am looking at something else in the right hand (main) frame.

Hmmm. Disabling chat killed the tutorial frame. Nifty.

My fight capability is fixed.

"Lower" causes the side bar to load the main window instead of the side bar.

Is there some secret plan to allow users to have two DD spells at once (via familiars or whatever), or does the extra DD box pop up because of a bug?

I'm pretty sure these might be intentional, but here they are just so you know:

There's a News item currently "on," but Community > News gives you a dead link. There aren't any polls, and that link from Community > Polls is dead as well.

Also, it looks like the chatmail system through CB2 isn't working currently. I didn't receive the message from the system saying, "Welcome to Carnage Blender." Of course, when you go and visit the Community > Chatmail, it sends it to you, but only on the page -- not through the chat. I also tested it sending a chatmail to myself.

Perhaps Jon's just not connecting this chatmail system until we have both CB1 and CB2 chat separate. (Unless he's planning to keep them global?)

Sorry to double post, but it also seems that the "Tournaments" and "Character transfer log" links are also dead through Chatmail.

These two are probably more intentional I'd think until everything else is up and running.

Don't hate me for triple posting. :)

Anyway, this isn't necessarily a bug I'd think, but maybe it could be fixed. When you click fight, the Opponents list is not highlighted, so you have to click the box and choose another opponent and hit fight again. In this case, CB1 does re-highlight it for you, but maybe it's intentional for CB2?

Of course, the other option is to highlight one of your opponents, hit enter, up/down, enter, etc., and that's no problem.

On the donation page, the three links that are linked to a forum thread are all dead links.

Specifically, the following:

• "The coolest thing I have ever seen," "Brilliant," and "Best feature ever!"
• there have been complaints
• IP-based uniqueness check

I apologize in advance if I'm getting too nit-picky about things already, but I thought I'd just keep updating with things I find.

Is there anyway to make the floating devices be on top?

For example: If you mouse over "Active threads," you get the list of names of the thread titles. However, if you move your frames over too much to the left, then they get hidden under the frame. Any possible way to change this so it's over the frame?

Not a CB2 bug, but...

The image on the Help section still contains "Magic missile: 556 (81/54%)." And, well, the %'s are outdated as that's not really part of the system anymore.

I made a new character. I went to try to transfer some of the money (to see if the $100 mandatory limit was still applicable), and when I sent any amount ($100 or $1) from my $100 stash, and tried to transfer to my current character, I received a "The page cannot be displayed" error.

I am currently and consistently getting a "server error" when I attack expostfacto with Liu Bei.

Yep, same here but with character SzentMihaly.

I get a server error if I attack with my "A Lesser Tattoo of Ice lvl 20 " equipped. I suspect the tatoos are causing the server errors.

You were fighting me while I had my tattoo on, though. So maybe only certain ones.

On my character "Char.Test" I assigned a tattoo that I purchased from Inception, and sent it to to Char.Test. After that, I enlisted a minion, and then I equipped the tattoo. I waited 10 minutes to get my 10 BA, and when I hit the 'Fight' button, it says I need to enlist a minion first. I already have one hired, though.

Err, and now it will let me fight. Forget it. :)

You were fighting me while I had my tattoo on, though. So maybe only certain ones.

Maybe only the ones that involve spell-casting familiars?

Adding a new minion does not refresh the sidebar. The result is that you get "Enlist a Minion First" errors when trying to fight until refreshing. Also, creating a new char gives a server error, though it does seem to work.

Looks like I can't duplicate it either. Must have been fixed, or possibly on my end. Oh well. It's fixed now. :)

Sometimes after a battle the exp I was assigned gets eaten by gremlins. For the past 3 wins, I've had 7 exp even though it said I earned exp.

It just said I earned 3 exp but I only got 1 according to the train page. The statistic isn't accurate or something.

Okay, I'm positive this one works:

Go to your "Favorites" list, but have zero opponents in your list. Click "Delete" and it'll give you a "The page cannot be displayed" error.

The "Delete" function really works if you have a person in your list, though. :)

OK, I think I figured it out. The number displayed when you complete a battle is how much EXP you earned total, even though it claims it was given to all of your minions evenly. Contrary to this number and the number displayed in the battle summary, you only get EXP/(# of minions).

On an interesting note, it is possible for this number to be rounded to 0.

Icky. 4 minions and inability to earn more than 3 exp per battle, even when winning, means it is not possible to give exp to the minions (due to rounding).

Ok, I just bought a tattoo, and now I can't fight, go home, train, or anything. the tattoo hasn't been equipped yet.

Inspecting Liu Bei gives a server error. You broke it, Ellis :P

I'm having the same problem, Ellis, and I bought a bow and arrows, not a tattoo. I was able to fight just fine until I ran out of BA. Now I can't go Home, Train, or Fight.

I went to the Blacksmith to see if I could upgrade my Tattoo (I know, I can't -- just wanted to see what it said, if anything), and the stats it gave me were the following on the table:

Armor: A Tattoo of Endurance
AC: 0 +279

If only I had 279 AC just from one item. :P And, no, it does not give me any AC on the main page if you were wondering.

Another thing that might help distinguish Saint and Ellis' problem is that I can't inspect Ellis, but I can inspect Saint.

And now, my tattoo leveled to 120, and the stats on the Blacksmith table shows:

A Tattoo of Endurance 0 +555

Heh, and now the tattoo leveled to 170 and the stats on the Blacksmith table are:

A Tattoo of Endurance 0 +677

I'm recreating the weapons table. Pretty much everything will be broken until I'm done.

I got an Intellivision plug-in TV game thing.. 25 games in one controller... I miss the paddle , but I'm in heaven :)

Oh, and after fighting for about 10 fights, I get a server error, then I get a "fighting too fast" screen.

Hm. Everything seems to be working for me now, but my weapons have disappeared.

I created a new char, switched to the new char, recruited one minion, then selected an opponent and clicked Fight. Got the "you need to recruit a minion first!" message. Clicked Refresh and it worked.

I get a server error fighting Max with Inception.

Here is my initial experience while I finish sitting out a 20 minute fight suspension. :-)

Oh, the name is spelled thrakattack, not thrackattack. The spell check doesn't like my true spelling yet, though. :-)

I didn't have the tutorial when I first logged in and got the "Apparently you have found a bug" message. I did have the ability to create my first character, typed in the information, and got the "you can't follow instructions ... I'll autocreate your character" message. Once my character was autocreated, the tutorial popped up in place of chat.

Attempted to fight Stump Farm1 and got "Server error ... the requested URL cannot be accessed ...." message. Attempted to fight expostfacto and got the "one fight at a time message." Attempted to fight Goof, got killed, and was warned about using ranged in the tutorial. Attempted to fight Todd and got a 10 minute suspension.

Went back to CB1 for a few minutes, then returned. Changed a few settings (multiple fight submission and, eventually, my password). Chat popped up with me in new players. Jumped into carnage without any problems.

Attempted to fight Test and got "Server error...." Attempted to fight Gepin and got "one fight at a time" message. Attempted to fight Alpha Male, got killed. Attempted to fight someone and got another "one fight at a time" warning.

I trained some experience, purchased sabre and sold whip back to store. Fought Alpha male and lost again. Trained some experience and purchased new minion. Fought Stump Farm1 and got "server error" message, but had earned experience waiting for me when I went to train. Had the same thing happen with test. No record of either fight in my recent battles or their recent battles, but I earned experience. Hit someone else and got a 20 minute suspension.

More to come. I'm on vacation for the next two weeks and should be able to spend a fair amount of time in here. Happy holidays everyone!

One addition. Just fought test again, got experience, and used 1 BA. The battle just isn't being recorded in recent battles, and I'm still getting the "server error" message.

I was just able to run off a string of defeats against characters with a PR greater than 1 and earned a small amount of cash for each fight. Each fight indicated that I received 1 experience per minion, but there was no experience waiting when I went to train.

The fights against characters with a PR of 1 give a small amount of experience but no cash. It's a long ways until I'll be able to afford that corn in the store right now. :-)

sorry -- Rachel tore me away from the laptop for a few hours. I thought it was working when I left but I guess not. :)

Clans > Admin > Click "Process selected" with no options and it gives a "Page cannot be displayed" error.

You may be working on this already, but:

Stats > Character Attributes = Server Error

I've noticed that if I hit several characters (Alpha Male down to test), I don't get anything when I try to hit them again. If I toggle down to my second character, Sad Little Target, I can immediately hit them, and I can then toggle back up to Bilgater and hit them again.

The post-battle stats for experience, and possibly cash, aren't adding up to what I see per fight. I had a draw with Alpha Male where I earned 12 experience per minion, and my post-battle stats were 12, 14, and 13 for my three minions. When I hit train, I had 4, 6, and 5 experience waiting for me. The post-battle stats appear not to be adding up accumulated experience if I fight and win four or five fights in a row.

I also tried to transfer a small amount of money from Sad Little Target to Bilgater and got a server error. I also got the same server error when I tried to transfer a small amount of money to Pinhow.

I just tried to add a third minion on Sad Little Target and got

"We were unable to create your Minion record in the database. If you are in a Clan that has reached its PR limit, you may not hire any new Minions.(Possibly you double clicked, in which case only the second insert has failed.)"

No minion was created, and I'm not in a clan.

I've already mentioned the experience issue in 3-4 posts. I advise people to read all the posts in this thread before saying anything.

Every time I go to equip an item to my minion. As soon as I select the minion to equip something to it I get that error.

Anytime I try and equip a Tattoo I get line 184 char 1 error. Also, I equipped a HLA and my ToE became unequipped. So, I tried to put mt Tatt back on but the server replied that I am double clicking.

equip errors fixed, maybe.

Settings > Input "http://cb.dontpanic.nl/SNKeR/" as custom theme URL > Click "Set Supporter Preferences" = Server Error

And, actually, it does still keep my URL that I put into it so the theme is still active, I just have to go back to Home.

I can't reproduce, max. In fact, there isn't ANY javascript involved with those dropdowns so I'm guessing there's something very nonstandard on your end for you to be seeing that.

Without my debugger on I can't see it but with it on I get that error. Nothing special on my side. IE 6.0, JRE 1.4.2_06, SP2 XP pro.

I tried using Firefox and I prefer it. I switched back to IE because FireFox wasn't working right with CB. Maybe I'll have better luck with 1.0.

If you have 5 minions, the backmost minion does not get hit by ablative shield enchantments. It is possible that this applies to other enchantments as well.

My character, "Eyeaus", Is not casting CoC, even during melee combat. My tattoo minion is casting it. And yes, I checked that Eyeaus was still alive.

Err, nvm. I think it was working all along and he wasn't bothering to cast any more melee spells because all the enemy minions were dead from the familiar's spell immediately before.

Clans>View All works but the view buttons on the join pages don't work.

I don't think Economic clans should have a ranking displayed, but perhaps displaying it is easier.

Sometimes the fight list selection does not have the previous defender selected after completing a fight.

If you click inspect to inspect a minion, then select the dropdown bar, then hit enter, it will inspect the minion currently highlighted. The enter key will do nothing if pushed again for other minions.

After inspecting then hitting enter on the drop-down list to inspect another minion, the fight button itself won't work.

Note that all of this stuff works if you click refresh.

Ablative shield is working correctly now. Apparently your fix wasn't immediate.

Supporter item page doesn't indicate fire-blocking properties of the cloak.

The view buttons in the clan>join page still don't work.

The join links don't work either.

When I try to fight a bit down my fight list (Spider Bait), I get a server error. Then when I try to fight my normal opponents, I get a "fighting too fast" message, even after several minutes.

Here is an interesting problem I've been seeing. I get a botcheck while fighting. Once I've typed in the word and hit enter, the focus goes back to the fight-list, but not quite right. If I immediately hit enter without hitting any other keys (like I lost the fight and want to immediately fight the same char again), I will actually fight the character at the top of my fight-list, rather than the character that I wanted to fight.

BA usage in stores...

When I visit the store, I lose a BA. If I hit "View All" to see what is there, I lose another BA (and have to answer a bot check again).

Not sure if that is by design.

I think that's intentional, Todd. It does the same thing in CB1. I think Jon's message is, "If you want to see what else is in the store for trying to find good stuff, you better get more money and view it in one sitting, or spend another BA you poor fool." :)

Todd, that's the same way it works on CB1. It's been too long since you've been short on cash. 8-)

I can't reproduce, Saint. Mozilla 1.4 and FF 1.0 both leave the selected opponent alone and submit it correctly after a bot check for me.

I've had the selection switch on me a few times.

Ditto with Saint and Private on the selection problem.

If I loose to someone, I can't just hit enter to fight them again, I have to hit refresh, then find them in the list again, then hit fight

I thought tattoos and armor were independant. I cannot equip both a tattoo and a hard leather armor.

I was fighting with my tattoo equipped and ammo unequipped. I finished fighting, clicked Home, clicked Heal. I looked at my tattoo stats, then equipped ammo, and the tattoo stat went up 50 levels. No fights occurred during the time I healed and equipped ammo.

Just managed to reproduce it again.

equipping items uncaches your equipment, it's like a mini-Train. so you'd earned the levels, it just didn't show up yet.

I've fixed the calculation of eclan revenue.

The emails for messageboard post notifications should use the cb1 and cb2 prefix.

Community > AIM buddy icons > "Here are the Buddy Icons created for this contest."

BTW, stump: FF 1.0 is the only browser I have tested whose back button breaks with CB2. File a bug report with them for me, will you? Bugzilla is such a hassle. :)

Okay, Jon. This one tests your skills on reproducing. :P

You have your left frame as usual. Press Home so you're on the site as regular. Now, here's where the bug begins. Press Refresh, and very quickly after, hit Manage Characters. If you did it correctly, the left frame will load with the Manage Characters screen instead of the right frame and you'll have two non-navigation screens. :)

I did further testing, and one can substitute the Manage Characters link with any of the following links and do the same thing -- load that page into the left frame instead of the right: Help, FAQs, Settings, Edit [viewing Favorites list], Home, Train, Auctions, Businesses, Clans, Community, Mine/All Recent Battles, Loaned/rented items, Forums, Active threads, Stats, Top Clans, [Stat that is randomly placed], Tournament scores, Current winning streaks.

Basically, all the links (except Higher, Lower, Specify, Fight, Inspect, search by user...) can be thrown into the left frame instead of the right frame (where they should be) so you have two non-navigation windows which will probably cause users to refresh, in which this case, will reset properly.

Also, getting a Server Error by trying to reach the Home page.

Scratch the server error. It's fixed now. :)

Sounds like another FF 1.0 bug, SNK -- it very definitely shouldn't be doing that. Working around it isn't difficult, just annoying; I'll put it on my low-priority list.

Um, you are misunderstanding my comment. When I get a notification email about a messageboard, it should use the correct URL for the messageboard. If it uses www for a cb2 link, I end up seeing a random cb1 post instead of seeing the cb2 post I was notified about.

in a few days cb2 will be 'www' and all will be well (cb1 should identify itself as cb1 already)

Jon, here's a bit better description of the fight-list weirdness I've been seeing:

I fight Enter, Down, Enter, Down. I hit Enter, then Down before a botcheck finishes loading. I type in the botcheck word, the results of my fight are displayed properly, and the fight-list displays the character I just fought (not the one I ended up on because I hit down too quickly). So I hit enter, and I fight the character I had arrowed down to, not the character I just fought.

The trick to reproducing it seems to be hitting the down arrow too quickly, before the botcheck loads.

Max noticed some of Meta stats have a bad field:

Cloak of the Istari: Base AC 6 -2% DX ++plus++4% magic.
Troll skin has a ++plus++ too.

When I click the Refresh link on the left side, my fight-list gets reset to 5 characters, even though my setting is for 25. If I hit Higher or Lower, it fixes itself.

Had the Fight button on left not work again (including picking a new opponent). I think I may know what it was, I had used all my BA, fought again with 0 ba and got a bot check. Maybe it was expecting a fight to finish after bot check.

yep confirmed, a fight bot check after running out of ba locks fight button on next fight or the fight of bot check.

I can't buy that cool sling in auctions. I get an error.

I tried to auction off a sling at net worth as a buy now. I got an error message indicating I needed a bid increment of $200 to $2000, so I put in a first bid of $542, a buy now of $542, and a bid increment of $200.

I was able to cancel the auction after Max wasn't able to bid, attempted to auction it again, and was told I needed a bid increment for the buy now equal to the first bid.

Err, how did I get a sling with a net worth into auctions in the first place? Maybe it is a blessed sling that will turn into an elbow once the auction is finished. :-)

Saint: in order to avoid doing a table scan, CB restricts the range of PR it looks in for opponents. 5 is the cutoff point; if it can't find 5 in what it considers "your range," it will retry with a tablescan. So what you're seeing is, at your default level, you have just enough to make it satisfied, but going higher or lower it doesn't find enough and does the tablescan to get your full 25.

When I switch characters, the right hand frame does not refresh.

Todd: I mentioned that. Jon did this on purpose.

For me the right side frame refreshes to the new char's home if I was on the home for the char I am leaving. Otherwise if I am on any other screen, I think it does not refresh.

Every time I fight expostfacto I get a server error. (Probably because you are in the Economics 101 Clan) every time I fight private I get "You may only be in one fight at a time..." Again, he's in the clan.

I'm not sure if this is a browser issue or not, but I'm posting just to be sure:

Go to the Blacksmith. When you're "browsing to order an improvement," you can click the box, then click the improvement you want and the total box will add up correctly.

However, if you hit the box and hit it again so it's focused on your mouse, no matter which improvement you desire to upgrade, the total will not add up.

But, the cool thing is that if you try to "scam" the system by doing the mouse "trick" to select a whole bunch of high upgrades for 0 cost, it will tell you it will pick only the upgrade that you can afford.

Cool, but maybe now the mouse thing isn't important.

Okay, uh...I shouldn't post when I just woke up, but I don't drink coffee like Sutekh. :)

Replace any word in my above thread with "keyboard" in place of "mouse."

Looks like a firefox bug; I have "onchange" specified correctly, but it only updates once you tab to a different control.

I can't join Snk3r's clan. It doesn't show up on clan list under standard to join.

Also if you click join with nothing selected you get an error page.

Nevermind Closed Clans just don't show up on list.

I don't think the clan bonus should amplify negative scores.
Technically this is a feature and not a bug, but I am posting it here anyway :P

These may be intentionally, uh..."turned off" for alpha, so I'll just list them here for your viewing pleasure to double check. :)

• Stats "Top Clans" on left frame is not updating top clans (or any).
• No bonuses are being given out for sClans. (There are two, shouldn't there be a bonus or...?)
• Left frame: Top Clans > All = Navigates only to sClan stats, but shouldn't 'All Clans' mean both sClans and eClans? (Unless you're only counting sClans as the important statistic here?)
• Stats > Theme: All percents add up to way more than 100%.
• Maybe be a little more descriptive on the clan descriptions. (Might refer to part of bullet three.) Instead of saying "Clan MVP" maybe "Standard Clan MVP" or whatever you want to do. :)

You need either 5 or 6 clans for Top Clans to be computed or bonuses given. (I forget which.)
