Tattoos- figured them out yet? (in General)

Todd December 24 2004 4:34 PM EST

Expostfacto (Jon's) has a tattoo on one of the minions. When I attack him, the minion's "likeness" attacks me with a fireball, which is obviously related to the tattoo of fire, or whatever the minion is wearing.

So far, it seems like this gives you an extra "minion" for attack purposes.

Well, that sounds about right, Todd. But you never know, right? :)

Here's what the Meta Stats says:

Lesser Tattoo of Flame: Base AC 0. Familiar casts Fireball. Not upgradeable.

Basically, when I was looking in the store, instead of any kind of stats we're used to, it's determined by level. And apparently, all of them in store, currently, have a level of 20 -- whatever that effect that may have on it.

I haven't fought Expostfacto yet, but from the description, it just seems like an extra "minion" (named Familiar?) helps you out by casting Fireball.

Well, I have some more small things for you, Todd:

Tattoo of Endurance: Base AC 0. Reduces damage taken. Not upgradeable.

SNK3R (Inception) 69.225.30.129 buy A Tattoo of Endurance ($11000) 12:19 AM EST

Now, it's about 2 AM EST, and my tattoo just went from...

A Tattoo of Endurance lvl 20 11,000

to

A Tattoo of Endurance lvl 70 11,000

...with just about using all of my BA.

What the significance of 50 levels and why they're levels 20 and 70 I have no idea, but I'm sure we'll gain more knowledge soon. Also, the experience gain to move it a certain level isn't knowledgeable as well. And I'm not sure if there are any higher levels and what better "power" it holds than the current stats. And also, is the damage reduced magical and physical or only one of the two?

Anyone else know anything additional?

I would assume the amazing leveling ability is to make testing the items easier. I doubt it will be quite as fast in the regular game.

Todd December 25 2004 11:52 AM EST

Jon sent us emails saying it would level by 50. Not sure why though.

AdminJonathan December 25 2004 1:31 PM EST

The numbers aren't random -- a lvl 50 tattoo of flame casts a fireball equal to a lvl 50 trained spell.

Max December 25 2004 2:43 PM EST

AMF counters them rather well.

SNK3R December 25 2004 5:05 PM EST

Well, I've been fighting and fighting like always, and now I have a level 1,170 tattoo:

A Tattoo of Endurance lvl 1,170 11,000

Like private mentioned, Jon maybe increased the level up power so we could test the tattoos, but then again, maybe not. Is there a maximum level?

I know Jon mentioned that a level 50 Flame Tattoo gave us a level 50 Fireball, but what about the Endurance Tattoos? How does that, in relationship, affect the fights for the Endurance Tattoos? The description states that we will have damage reduced. Is this physical and magical or one of the two, and how does it reduce it? Does it take a % or chunk of an opponent's ST, or...?

AdminJonathan December 25 2004 5:30 PM EST

I'm not sure I want to give out that level of detail. :)

SNK3R December 25 2004 5:37 PM EST

Fair enough. :)

private December 25 2004 9:44 PM EST

Do tattoos get exp from battles as defender?

Ellis December 25 2004 10:02 PM EST

either by design or by bug, you can only have one tattoo equipped per character.
And we'll see if sima yi's familiar will gain experience while he is farmed.

SNK3R December 25 2004 10:58 PM EST

In the E-Mail Jon sent out to us, he said it was per character, so I'm assuming it's intentional.
