Out of cash. (in General)

Sutekh December 27 2004 11:35 PM EST

I can't make any cash. I fight people I can beat, and I make $4. Healing costs $35.

I am trying to save enough experience on lead minion to train a decent enchant and learn something (Dispel Magic). I can't. I am down to $50.

I don't think my team is completely dumb. Am I just in a bad part of the heal/reward curve?

Sutekh December 27 2004 11:39 PM EST

Totally out cash now. Can't even heal.

Guess I will try again with a new character tomorrow. Goodnight, all.

I had to abandon Bilgater and Sad Little Target for the same reason. I started with Bilgater and reached a point where I couldn't get any experience from characters I could beat, and I couldn't get enough money to keep healing if I attacked stronger characters. I retired Bilgater after transferring weapons and money to Sad Little Target and made Spider Bait, then later fired two minions on Sad Little Target to see if I could raise Alpha Male enough to get experience on Spider Bait from him. Retired Spider Bait after transferring weapons and money when I couldn't heal, made Ball Four, then got new targets today.

Welcome to starting over ... with too few targets in your range.

Jon, you might want to test the character transfer by unretiring Bilgater and giving him to someone in need ... like Sutekh. :-) The lower range should have enough targets for Bilgater to now receive enough experience and money to continue to grow.

Err, retired Sad Little Target. Spider Bait is alive and growing. :-)

Woke up today and realized my error...meat shields have no place here (yet). When a minion dies it always costs a lot more, and I had a minion I was growing (only 20 HP) out in front. Not smart. He dies every time even when I win, requiring more healing cash.

I am not used to these types of subtleties, but it is kind of neat. I will see if I can keep it going, or just build a new char...

Some of it is lack of opponents right now. But I am feeling the pain with my single character as well.

I've reduced heal costs.

Todd December 28 2004 1:44 PM EST

heh, I see the exact same thing with 2 new characters I started. Extreme Newbie is a 4 minion MMAA with equipment from Todd (ret.). He can't make money even if he loses a few fights. I assume it's the healing costs. But, Sutekh might be right, it coudl be the "meat shield" effect.

So, I started a new character.. Spid-Jr

I can't seem to get any rewards at all.. All I ever see from wining is $10 and 1 exp. A real money loser there too. I unequip the tattoo and do a bit better, but I can't find anyone to beat :)

/me shrugs.

Todd December 28 2004 1:48 PM EST

Some Data:

Using Extreme Newbie: When I win, I gain the cash shown, and seem not to spend anything on healing, even though a few minions have died. Now, this can be explained if the rewards shown are net (after healing costs).

But, when I lose the 1st fight, it costs about $60 to heal. This is about x2-3 the amount I get from winning at my PR.

Sutekh December 28 2004 4:32 PM EST

I seemed to have stretches like that too, and now I am doing OK. The "lowest" tier, just has tiny rewards... Then there is the "mid" tier (only about 3 or 4 teams at the moment). I cannot beat any "upper" tier folks yet.

Hit points are key. When I used the hoarded experience on Ablative Shield and dumped everything else into hit points on my other two minions, healing costs plummeted (plus Jon cheapened them). Also, I fight battles now that I know I can win - I don't even experiment. That means sometimes rattling off 50 battles all against one guy. It is working, at least for now.

This is just a weird adjustment coming from CB1...
