Tuesday Night Trivia

...a weekly night of challenge and fun. I will be running this at 8pm server time (-6 Hrs GMT) every Tuesday night and will run for 15-20 minutes. I'm hoping for this to be a jump to some peoples new CB characters, because there is a possibility of some good extra cash... if you are smart!

$2,000 CB will be the entry fee.
-1st place will earn 75% of the total pot.
-2nd place will earn 25% of the remaining.
(total pot will be all the entry fees minus any transfer costs).

There will be a free trial run tonight at this time, and anyone that wants to give it a try join the Trivia room in chat. (Type "/join Trivia") The first night of trivia will start next week Tuesday, January 11th.

Some quick basic rules:
- 10 questions will be asked with points awarded to the first and second correct answers.
- Answers will only be accepted in PM!! Chat is only going to be used for discussion between players, posting of the questions and points winners.
- The fastest correct answer will earn 2 points, the next earning 1 point. If there is not a correct answer in 60 seconds, no points are awarded and I move on to the next question.
- If only 1 player answers correctly, they earn 3 points.
- Each player only gets 1 chance to answer, spelling and punctuation count.

Tonight is pretty much an open criticism night, and questions will be fielded while trivia is taking place. I'm also still working out some details, so any comments are welcome.

Of course there is no way for me to prevent people from using Google, but I will make some of the questions "un-googlable", and of course, quickest wins. The questions will be mostly general knowledge covered in 10 different topics that will stay static from week to week.
These are the topics, each with a sample question:

1. World History/Ancient History
-Q: Who was murdered to cause the start of WWI?

2. Geography
-Q: What is the longest river on the continent of Asia?

3. Pop Culture (this will be by default Western Culture)
-Q: What is the slogan of McDonalds?

4. Music
-Q: What was the name of the original bassist for Metallica?

5. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
-Q: What auto manufacturer now builds the Mini Cooper?

6. Mathematics
-Q: 3x = 21; x=?

7. Literature
-Q: What date was John Ronald Reuel Tolkien born?

8. Science Terms
-Q: The force that causes things to fall to the ground.

9. Food
-Q: How many tablespoons equal 12 ounces?

10. Current Events
-Q: What was last weeks earthquake magnitude on the Richter Scale?

Bonus: Carnage Blender tie breaker!
-Q: What is the base damage of a mace?

If there is a tie between two players at the end of the 10 questions, a Bonus question will be asked to determine the overall winner.

I will respond in the chat window of the point winners for each question, as well as whether there has been a correct answer or not by a 10 second warning until no points are awarded and I move onto the next question.

I'll complete more of the details as the night goes on and an official posting will be made for next weeks Tuesday Night Trivia!

Judging from the crowd response for today's trial, the trivia was a success! :D

Thanks to Chrono, Beowulf, Meoman, SirBubbleWrap, Tamale, Tonya, bigalpha and everyone else that joined in even to watch.

There will be a few changes made for next week, but from the sounds of it, not many are needed. If you'd like to send an advanced entrance fee, send $2k to Trivia (Meoman is paid for 3 weeks if he'd like).

There will be another more official posting later in the week.

kyuubi: Yes, bystanders are allowed. answers are only in PM, so any discussion in chat is open. however if i feel you are interfering with the game, you will be kicked.

kira: I'm ignoring you in chat and will be in forums now as well. take your personal issues somewhere else.

...which brings me to another point.
Players on my /ignore list are not allowed to play. Answers are submitted in PM, and i am not going to un/ignore anyone so they can play. Most people don't have to worry about that, however, because you have to be very disruptive for me to ignore you.

Also mentioned earlier, I will be saving the entire chatlog/PM log from each trivia for anyone has any qualms about answers submitted. ... or just to post so show funny replies. :D
