No Experience for Tattoo (in General)

miteke [Superheros] January 22 2005 1:57 PM EST

My team Cute Animals has a lesser ToJ that has not risen from level 2,270 even after piling up thousands in experience. Anyone know why this might be?

Did you train your minion(s)?

Thousands? ;P

It's a lesser too so it wont be that quick to level up, just keep fighting.

I thought I had trained. I definately went to the training page. Whatever was going on, I just saw it jump in experience, so ignore my post.

bartjan January 22 2005 2:14 PM EST

Visiting the training page is not enough, you'll need to hit the button on that page labelled 'train'...

RIPsalt3d January 22 2005 5:43 PM EST

If you're using Internet Explorer it may be showing you a cached version of the main page. You can check this by comparing the amount of EXP your minions have on the fight page and then when you click home.

you don't need to train... you can also unequip/re-equip the tattoo or refresh yourself by going to manage characters, then go to the char w/ the tattoo and hit update

miteke [Superheros] January 22 2005 9:30 PM EST

OK, I ran a test.

at 9:00 the tattoo had 2320 exp
at 9:19 I spent 1000 exp on my char and the LToJ jumped to 2370.
at 9:24 I spent 1000 exp and it jumped to 2420.
at 9:25 I spend 314 and it did not budge.

So it looks like there is a threshold. Don't spend your experience until you have a big bunch of it or your tattoo does not increase. That's my theory at least. Any comments?

miteke [Superheros] January 22 2005 10:20 PM EST

Dang!

Trained over 1000 points at 10:19 and its experience is STILL at 2420!!! That blows that theory.

miteke [Superheros] January 23 2005 1:39 PM EST

Hmmm. Every attempt since then worked when over 1000 exp. I think I may have had 1001, spent 998, and had 3 left. That caused the familiar to NOT get a bump.

Look dude, it's really simple.

Your tattoo gains experience when your minions do. It "trains" the xp at any of several points that velo described. It doesn't matter how many times you go to the train page though if you haven't earned any enough xp to get to the next level since the last time you went.

miteke [Superheros] January 24 2005 10:44 AM EST

I'm not an idiot. I read Velo's post and did what he suggested. The bump did *NOT* occur.

1) The experience was earned.
2) The experience was trained.
3) The bump did not occur.

I wrote down the time of everything to make sure in the test case I posted. I will continue to record for my next attempt to see what happens and post it too.

XP ON YOUR MINIONS IS NOT THE SAME AS XP ON YOUR TATTOO.

miteke [Superheros] January 24 2005 1:00 PM EST

Take this situation:

Minions train, familiar gains bump from ITS experience, is at level 2020.

All stats are updated, both for minions and for familiar, as per Velo's post.

Now the party goes out WITH the familiar and gains 1000+ experience for each minion.

If the stats are updated for the familiar I expect to gain 50 levels. I can update the stats by training my guys or going to manage chars, select the char, and update stats. This should be true unless the familiar does not gain 1000 experience like the minions, unless if my formula is wrong and 1000 xp does not translate into 50 levels, or unless a bump is postponed for some reason and does not automatically occur when minions train or stats are updated. If my scenario is in error somehow enlighten me.

Hapster January 24 2005 1:05 PM EST

Clearly for a lesser 1k exp is not 50 levels, my normal tattoo doesnt gain 50 lvls every 1k exp.

I think what Jon was trying to say was: XP ON YOUR MINIONS IS NOT THE SAME AS XP ON YOUR TATTOO.

So, in this case, you ARE being an idiot. To make it more clear (if that's possible): Just because one of your minions earned 1000 xp doesn't mean that your tattoo gained the same. Some formulas are kept secret to keep away the min/maxers. That doesn't mean you can't figure them out, but it does mean you have to listen to what Jon says.
