This is a lottery from your friends at CB2 Bank! The pot starts at a large at 10k, and will grow with each ticket you buy! This will end Friday.

Rules/Instructions:
-Choose 5 numbers between 0 and 9 in any order. Example: 0,1,2,3,4
-Each entry costs 1k, but you can buy 10 for 7k. That is 50 numbers for the price of 35!
-You can buy as many tickets as you want. And the more tickets that are bought, the bigger the already large jackpot will be.
-If you get all numbers right, you win the entire pot! If you do not get all the numbers, do not worry. The person/s with the most most number will get a percent of the pot. If more than one person wins, pot will be split evenly between all winners.
-Send all money for contest to CB2BANK Casino. Adding number of tickets bought will help increase speed being processed, but is not needed.

Tribute, looked at simply, there are actually 100,000 possible combinations: 00000 - 99999. Now to purchase EVERY combo, that would cost $70,000,000 CB2.

However, some of the combos are redundant: aka 1-2-3-4-5 is equal to 5-4-3-2-1 etc. since the order doesn't matter, and numbers can repeat.

I think the formula is:
(# of places + # of numbers - 1) choose (# of numbers - 1)
then:
(5+10-1) choose (10-1) = 2002.
Thus, you only need to purchase 2002 tickets (with the correct numbers, which would take a while to generate) to guarantee a win. This works out to $1,402,000 CB2 which is probably much higher than the jackpot will ever be.

Note: If my math skills have failed me, and I calculated this wrong, please correct me as I would be curious to know the correct answer (if this isn't it).

But..look at the results. 4 combos with all but one number right. So doth thy math truly matter?

I'm sure math could give the odds of that, but I'm not that great at statistics and probablity. And with 190 tickets sold, I'm not surprised there were that many winners.

At any rate, the math is just for fun. Interesting to see what the actual odds of winning are.
