Fireball hitting minions... (in General)

Voldune February 25 2005 1:13 AM EST

I have noticed recently that fireball is hitting not only my opponent but also my minions. Is this supposed to happen? If so does CoC also do this? If not then why does fireball seem to be doing it. Just curious because if this is supposed to happen then I plan on unlearning fireball. I have had my minions killed by me several times which sucks to lose a fight you should win. Thanks for any info.

"Powerful ranged spell, but beware: unprotected friendly Minions will take half damage during melee rounds"

From FB spell discription under the train page.

Ok...how do you protect them? I remember reading that but it doesn't state how to protect them. I have protection as a spell so I assumed that did the job. Never thought that might not be the case. Any pointers on how to "protect" them so they stop dying on me? Thanks for your help.

Give them a CoBF each. ;)

This isn't an rpg mac, and this isn't a puzzle to solve. If you stuff them full of armor, it absorbs some of the impact. But, it probably won't absorb the whole thing. Your pretty much have to deal with the fact that it WILL happen.

Well that kinda sucks. Does CoC do this also? If not i plan on getting rid of fireball for CoC. And if CoC does it also I may just change it to archery. Hate having to buy all that armor. Does the protection spell not make any difference to how much damage they absorb? Does the protection spell make any difference to anything? Would hate to think I have gimped myself because I don't understand how things work.

CoC does not do this (it's a shaped cone, not a big ball), but it doesn't start firing until the melee rounds. It's not unusual to have a fireballer up front to do damage early and hopefully die early, with other damager types behind him.

Protection helps against physical and magical damage. How much exactly is still up in the air, but it's not proof against damage.

You could move your FBer up front and hope he dies before melee. You could switch him to CoC and move him to the back. You could unlearn FB on him and learn some enchantments. Most strategies don't require all 4 minions to dish out damage. You haven't borked yourself. You're learning how to play the game. You haven't reached a point of no return. If you're really, really unhappy with your strategy, start over. No biggie.
