FS/WTB Forum Gripe (in General)

Is it just me or is anyone else getting very annoyed with people outbidding in PM/Chatmail without posting in the forums. Then item is sold before you even get chance to reply.

Common decency says that you should post your bid in the forum and give others a chance.

Auctions do not have that problem ;)

How about absolutely no CM bids at all? All bids MUST be on the thread that they are being sold on....then everyone will be in the know

It really made me mad what happened to me on cb1 with this problem...

TheUltimateWarrior March 1 2005 5:24 PM EST

yeah I got screwed over on 3 different rares in 3 different fs posts due to things of this nature. It needs to stop cm offers should not be accepted in fs/wtb posts or least they should get copied and pasted to the forum so others know whats going on . It just really sucks when you think you got it won and then, oh I got a offer in cm item sold thats just wrong and unfair!

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] March 1 2005 5:26 PM EST

It really just points out how using the auction system is best. If you don't want to get jipped, don't use fs/wtb forum...because the practice you are talking about will never stop.

TheUltimateWarrior March 1 2005 5:31 PM EST

well we should do something about this problem! Its just wrong when people make offers in cm then poof the item you think your winning just get sold off to someone else, it needs to stop its so unfair!!!

smallpau1 - Go Blues [Lower My Fees] March 1 2005 5:34 PM EST

There is a seperate thing called Silent Auctions.....And these FS/WTB i have yet to see any of them say only CM bids allowed....Which would make it a silent auction.

Alienfb March 1 2005 5:36 PM EST

I would be more than happy to use the auctions, but people dont put their items into the auctions. They post on the forum trying to get USD offers which you cannot do in auctions.

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] March 1 2005 5:37 PM EST

I feel your pain TUW, but you just can't force someone to sell you something or not sell you something. There's never a deal established so there's never a commitment to anyone until the deal is finalized. I agree it's not 'fair', but it's likely not enforceable. When you use auctions you make a commitment that can't be rescinded..

MrC [DodgingTheEvilForgeFees] March 1 2005 6:49 PM EST

Want fair? Use auctions.

Forum sales however aren't certain until the items have been transfered.
I really don't see what's wrong with CM bids, "Its just wrong when people make offers in cm then poof the item you think your winning just get sold off to someone else, it needs to stop its so unfair!!!" And that would be different if they posted their very high bid in the forums how? If it's enough to be considered a buy now, then it'd be enough if posted in the forums too. And on the rare occasion that you'd still have outbid them and there wasn't actually a buy now listed to stop you from outbidding them, then you just have to put that down to bad luck. Again, use auctions if it's too 'unfair'.

I'll second all the posts saying use auctions, and I'll repeat something I said before. Crank up the FS/WTB posting fee. That will help deter such things, just like complaints about bogus min bids etc. That's the stick to get folks to use the auctions system. If you feel people are abusing FS/WTB, I'm assuming you'd be in favor of a bigger stick. Dunno what the carrot is, campers making $usd ?
