Feature request (small, easy?) on email notifications (in General)

Would it be possible to tweak the "send me a notification if someone posts to forum <X>" functionality to add a filter/limit to just sending the notification on the INITIAL post and not the replies?

As a concrete example, I get email notification on the changelog forum, but I'm really only interested in the initial post of what the change is, not all the gazillion replies of "I love it", "I hate it", etc.

The RSS feed serves this purpose quite well.

Gotcha; I'll dig up an RSS reader for firefox. Recommendations welcome (trying Sage now.)

Its a stand alone app instead of a FF extension, but I'm a big fan of RSS Bandit.
