How has the ToJ nerf affected you? (in General)

xDanELx March 8 2005 6:27 PM EST

I like the way the nerfing was handled. Kudos to Jon. I'm just wondering what other repercussions are happening with the nerf.

In my case, it looks like I'll have to take out the lower half of my favorite list. In one instance, I got $95 fighting Tribute at 112,601 / 116,255, $100 fighting Rahl at 129,427 / 115,977, and $106 fighting Waralt at 144,766 / 136,082. Oh, and that is during crazy money time.

I don't know what the current full effects are until after crazy money time. But I guess I just find it a little strange to get so little. I'd just like to see if its just me. Maybe its just normal but I guess I wasn't paying that much attention before, although I'm pretty sure I do since it was my way of pruning my favorites list.

BTW, my ToJ is 90k and my PR is 116k. I think I started out with a 20k ToJ. My score is at 192k its because I'm hitting Xanas who is at 199,168 / 161,993, and a few others with high scores.

I will not get farmed by budice's Big Tattoos on other people :)

Where I stand on this is simple. You shouldn't have put so much of your team into an item that was bound to get nerfed sooner or later.

When I saw people making 1 minion teams with just AMF trained, or another enchantment, and a uber tattoo, I started to feel like a nerf was needed. I agree 100% with Jon's changes.

My two cents.

If your PR is 116K, your ToJ should be 81K. Since it's bigger than that, I'm assuming you're getting reduced rewards. I guess fighting without it for a while would be a solution. Or down-insta-ing it.

How has the nerf affected me? Ask me again in a couple of days. :)

Now that it has come back to normal times, I've tried fighting and noticed a few changes.

These are people that I fight in at the top of my list.
Saints (Ministry of Pain) 190,089 / 181,775 You are awarded $97 and your Minions receive 16 exp each.
VBSpike (Department of Defense) 203,830 / 165,515 You are awarded $124 and your Minions receive 14 exp each.
Hejin (Isle of the Pirate King) 179,103 / 183,303 You are awarded $78 and your Minions receive 23 exp each.
Esvicchu (The Night Watch) 186,434 / 175,538 You are awarded $98 and your Minions receive 25 exp each.

Before the nerf, I got about $150-250 and 20-35ish xp per fight. Now, I'm getting nowhere near 20ish xp, and/or the amount of money I used to get. I don't know how much effect the nerfing has done but how much more higher should I be hitting people at to get back the old average for $ and xp that I used to get? Because at the current rate that I'm getting xp, it seems that it is going to take me a LOT longer than I used to. Remember that I am just 116k PR, and my ToJ is at 90k. So I am hitting people much higher than I am.

Please Jon. I like your solution to the ToJ problem. But is there a possibility that something might have gone just slightly off kilter?

actually TOJs are not nerfed at all. Just the way you use a tattoo changed, the change affects all other tattoos as well. It just more apparent to TOJ coz they are obviously abused the most

xDanELx March 9 2005 3:12 AM EST

I know. And I do understand the way it has changed (although I consider it a nerf of sorts, not directly but still...) But going from a reward of $200 and 30 xp, all the way down to less than $100 and 15-20 xp, even fighting high level guys is just a bit depressing. It would seem that I'd have to drop the ToJ completely since my ToJ wasn't base from the start. I don't mind dropping the lower level guys I fight but even the higher level guys, I'm not getting the same rewards I used to.

I just checked the other posts and I see this is not just me. I don't know. I guess just have to change strategy again without the ToJ in mind. :\ Maybe if all the ToJ were reduced to 70% of its owner's level. That way, we won't be seeing everyone unloading all their big ToJ and looking for ones that are around 70% of their PR.

my rewards about halved cause of it... bleh. it's lvl is higher than my pr, but I did make it all myself, I just started over again cause I didn't like my old char... I was gonna sell it like two days ago, but I never got around to it, not it's not gonna be worth as much... sucks for me... *sigh*

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] March 9 2005 4:47 AM EST

ToJ has not been nerfed at all.
They are still just as effective and nothing in your fighting will be affected.
And if you consider not being able to rent them out a nerf should you not be thinking that all tats have been nerfed?
I think this is one of the most pointless topics in the world.
I think more along the lines of, what do you think about not being able to put them into rentals? would be a better question.

Sorry I apologize.
I just read about tattoo's and rewards.
But still is for all tattoo's and not just ToJ :)

xDanELx March 9 2005 5:02 AM EST

lol Zoglog... :) Its more of a lament on how rewards have dropped. Yes, ToJ was not directly nerfed but it has affected quite a bit of other things around it, so I still consider it a nerf especially since this was all a result of the the problems with ToJ.

Currently, I'm putting my ToJ out of the equation when I am fighting, so yes, new strategy. I am getting back my older rewards level fighting relatively lower guys. And I am surviving without a ToJ. I'll probably just concentrate on CoBF.
