modified Endurance (in Changelog)

AdminJonathan March 9 2005 7:06 PM EST

reduced damage reduction to about 75% of what it was

cap is now 0.75 instead of 0.7

in other words, endurance will now do better against small amounts of damage and worse against large amounts

WeaponX March 9 2005 7:08 PM EST

did you have to post this as i was posting a sale thread dang

{CB1}Lukeyman March 9 2005 7:08 PM EST

Oh, yes, i get to post right after Jon for once!

{CB1}Lukeyman March 9 2005 7:09 PM EST

GnuUzir March 9 2005 7:09 PM EST

Yup just flying through those changes ;-)

Gwilla-Mcbain March 9 2005 7:09 PM EST

interesting concept--- makes it easier for newer players in the long run.

A bunch of ToE's get put into auctions and then nerfed while they are still in auction?
/me whistles incredulously...

Mandy [Journey] March 9 2005 7:51 PM EST

barron....duh ;) thats how cb works...didn't ya know?

Nixon Jibfest March 9 2005 7:55 PM EST

Nothing beats when tons of people bought the new CoBF supporter item, which got nerfed a week later. Classic Jon.

Chocolate Thunder March 9 2005 7:56 PM EST

If i understand this, ultimately i can block more damage with my ToE, but it will take me longer to cap out? Essentially its a better reason to have a high leveled ToE.

To me it sounds like more of a ToJ nerf than a ToE nerf (as they train Endurance alot slower). Me thinks this change will help my little guy in the long run, so i tentitively say "Thanks again Jon :) ".

CT [Monopoly] March 9 2005 7:56 PM EST

There goes my chance of snagging one of the ToEs in auctions :(

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] March 9 2005 8:06 PM EST

"reduced damage reduction to about 75% of what it was"

That there is a nerf.

Todd March 9 2005 8:11 PM EST

Hmm, I'm am confused, as normal, it seems.

1. Damage reduced by the ToE is about 75% of what it used to be. So, if endurance capped out at 70% damage reduction before, now it caps out at 0.7 x 0.75 = 0.52% damage?

2. If #1 is correct, then the "cap of 0.75 instead of 0.70 " makes no sense.

So, where did I screw up in my comprehension?

[EG] Almuric March 9 2005 8:16 PM EST

Where it used to block a thousand points of a certain hit, now it only blocks 750 points. And where, at a certain level, it was blocking a max of 7,000 points, now it blocks a max of 7500 points at that level. Is that clearer?

Barron [CB2BANK Investors Club] March 9 2005 8:19 PM EST

Maybe 75% effectiveness was removed so its like a younger ToE now. But the cap is up to .75. So, overall, it may not be so bad at all. Just currently evens out the playing field a little.

Chocolate Thunder March 9 2005 8:20 PM EST

its 75% of where it was, if i was blocking 400% of your damage (which would show up at 70% due to the cap), now i'm blocking 300% (which is now 75% due to the cap).

End result, i win.

If iwas blocking 50% of your damage before, now i'm blocking 37.5% of your damage.

End result, give me time.

Essentially Endurance has a higher upside, but it will take longer to realize its full potential against a specific damage range.

Chocolate Thunder March 9 2005 8:33 PM EST

A clearer example:

Say my ToE used to block 40000 damage. Now it blocks 30000.

But if you were only dealing 10000 damage normally (less than my full blocking potential), i was blocking 7000 damage, now i'm blocking 7500 damage.
