Dispel Magic Glitch? (in General)

mchaos March 15 2005 10:18 AM EST

I'm still pretty new so maybe I am just missing something, but...

When I battle (and defeat) several different opponents (i.e. Blegh and Terjen) with my character (Morbo), my 2nd minion's AMF fizzles under DM, but my opponent hasn't trained DM!

Is my first minion's DM somehow killing the second's AMF? An example of the enchantment round for each of those two opponent's is given below, this happens 100% of the time I battle these opponents.

Does anyone have any insight?

Blegh:
dude cast Dispel Magic on all enemy Minions (5,592)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on dude's familiar (?)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on dude (?)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on Eslove (?)
Eslove's Antimagic Field fizzles under Dispel Magic

Terjen:
dude cast Dispel Magic on all enemy Minions (5,592)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on dude's familiar (?)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on dude (?)
dude cast Vampiric Aura on Eslove (?)
Eslove's Antimagic Field fizzles under Dispel Magic

Buckmo cast Ethereal Chains on all enemy Minions (1323)
Buckmo's Guardian Angel fizzles under Dispel Magic
Hohar cast Ethereal Chains on all enemy Minions (3037)
Hohar cast Ablative Shield on all friendly Minions (105)
smash's Ablative Shield fizzles under Dispel Magic

Your DM affects offensive spells that you cast - AMF, EC. You can have both but for the AMF to operate it has to be higher than your DM. Basically if you cast DM it affects ALL spells cast on your opponent both by you and them.

So in short, don't ask stupid questions :)

Thank you

Don't worry, that question gets asked pretty often, which makes me wonder whether it is (or should be) in the FAQ.

You don't know unless you ask! No problem =)

This one should definitely be in the FAQ, I've run into it twice already! Although when you cast DM it says "on all enemy Minions" it also affects your own spells. I always thought that message was misleading, shouldn't it read "on all Minions"?

Think of DM as a cloud of funk that floats around the enemy minions. Their spells can't get out of the funk to hit you, but your spells can't get through the funk to hit them either.

Beware the funk.

Make MY funk the P-Funk!

"Beware the funk." --Vagabond

Words to live by...

Well, the spell discription of DM does unclearly say that offensive enchantments will be weakened, with "All enchantments casted on targets are weakened". It should really be made more clear.

Superb analogy Vagabond, but it makes no sense for my Haste to fizzle from the funk over the enemy =)

Let the Funk Begin
