BA benefits for dedicated players (in General)

I have an idea that gives a little bit extra back to those players that do play every day but cant play every 3 hours or so.

When the max 160BA has filled up, it accrues into the "Purchase BA" area.

My analysis of how it will work:
If you dont buy BA, this wont matter to you.
If you buy all BA in the morning, goto work, you get home and you will have your normal 160BA ready to use and all the BA from the day ready for you to buy.

You buy as much as you can afford to. It becomes a balance between spending your $ and more XP gained.
There could even be a separate buy back price which is cheaper than your normal BA buy price to make this a feasible and liked idea.

Many will say this sucks, why should I have to pay for my own BA?
You've lost that BA anyway so this is a way to get some back.
This could only be of benefit.

A great gift for dedicated players who work away from a PC or have tight bosses ;)

Wadya reckon?

I'm all for it - but unfortunately it does'nt matter what I think.
Great suggestion - but I don't think it will be 'taken on board with management'. :)

This would also be a cash sink.
To get round that, the cash from purchased BA could go into a pool used to fund useful ideas.

ie competitions:

Prizes for Clan Tournaments.

There was a post a while back about introducing competitions to achieve performance targets.
Perfecto.

Any other competition you care to think of could be funded by it.

I think this is a great idea too.

I do believe that these "lost" ba should be cheaper than your normal ba purchase price though.

Cash sink? Everyone seems to be poor constantly. the only problem is this is a game about whoever plays the most wins, this would change the whole concept of the game around and no one would ever be first. It'd be a 2,000 person tie.

chernobyl April 22 2005 12:25 PM EDT

Isn't a 2000-person tie a good thing? Seems to me, the more competition that can be promoted, the healthier the economy etc. If high-level players have more competition, everybody wins because higher-ups have more opponents and lower-ups have more potential.
Back from that tangent, stored BA could result in a lot more competition and balance without tossing extra BA anybody's way that they weren't already wasting somehow. It introduces yet another money sink which keeps the value of the $CB down. It gives avid gamers with real lives a chance to play catch-up with the retirees that can play 24/7; and in turn drives people who play constantly to play less because they can afford to buy the BA later.
The only right knock I can find with this cool idea is the camping facet. Campers tend to barely use up their BA to begin with; being able to buy that cache of BA from overnight would push the level just over the top so a camper could more-or-less constantly monitor a store. Not sure if this is a bad thing; it increases the value of rare items (good) but results in more cash saving and less spending (bad).
I don't think Jon would do this without calling it CB3, though.. it's just too big a change.

Spaceman, you have to realize not everyone's idea of winning is having the highest PR or the most NW. Many people like to try new strats and have fun with the game. A feature like this would just allow them to invest more time into their different strats and also give others a chance to catch up, at a cost. The only problem I forsee is people buying CB2 with USD just to buy that extra BA so they can remain competitive with the top players. Either way, a lot of people just play for fun and don't care about "winning." I just started over for the 3rd time and I'm enjoying it more than the first two chars I built. But enough of my rambling... good idea, but will never happen. Too many opportunities to take advantage of this one I think. It seems that the game is designed to be more rewarding to those that invest more time, and I believe it will always stay that way.

You mean like...forging? Which is what I do or rares collecting? I know exactly what you guys are talking about, but this thing has been suggested before. Many many times before. I'm just letting you all know this has been brought up before.

I could flip-flop on this issue, but I don't think it'd happen anyways.

However, if something like this was implemented I would want to see it cost *more*, not less, to buy the BA that you would have lost from not logging in consistently like the more dedicated players. If you're going to pay for the ability to buy BA that has been wasted, you should be ready to pay heftily.

You're probably right. Still, a purchasable BA cache like that wouldn't necessarily lessen the time spent playing; it would probably alter play patterns, but since the BA costs, something has to be done to raise the extra money, therefore, more play time, be it forge, fight or camp.

I still maintain that Jon wouldn't do this without calling it CB3. Gamerz can dream.....

Dream dream dre-eeeam

You know a post like this is never complete unless jon says no :)
I hope something along these lines can be worked in.
I might be back in work soon :D
