Theme songs (in Off-topic)

I finally see May 2 2005 9:30 PM EDT

I am working on a film, the opening to which is a parody of the opening in "the Good the Bad and the Ugly." What happens in the real film is actually unimportant, what I am looking for is ideas for a song/music to go along with each character (the good, the bad, and the ugly). Whoever provides an idea that I use will be rewarded.

something by courtney love for "the Ugly"

/me hates her

deifeln May 2 2005 9:36 PM EDT

Maybe " good sister/ bad sister" from the album "Pretty on the inside"

Jason Bourne May 2 2005 9:55 PM EDT

the good - Train (drops of Jupiter)
The bad - The Offspring (why dont you get a job)
The Ugly - Akon (Mr. Lonely)

those should work :D

Good responses so far, Soul, I am looking for faster songs.

Sukotto [lookingglas] May 2 2005 10:31 PM EDT

whatever you choose, you should have someone whistle it. :-)

Maelstrom May 2 2005 10:48 PM EDT

Are you looking for any particular style of music? What kind of movie is it, genre-wise?

I guess I'm wondering whether by "faster songs", you mean upbeat electro type stuff, or just hard rock, or what...

I finally see May 2 2005 11:04 PM EDT

Maelstrom, I am not looking for a particular genre, just fast and exiting music.

Maelstrom May 2 2005 11:07 PM EDT

OK, I'll see what I can turn up :)

Stephen May 2 2005 11:15 PM EDT

Ace of Base - Angel Eyes
Los DelTonos - Tuco
The Specials - The Man with No Name

Then all the film snobs will be impressed with your self-referential acknowledgement of the original which you parody.

Stephen, impressive suggestions.

*not to say I don't want more, please keep them coming folks.

maulaxe May 2 2005 11:44 PM EDT

it would be awesome if you could somehow work in flight of the bumble bee for like a chase scene or something

for the extremely bad ass good guy - Phony, by Neil Voss (from the soundtrack to tetrisphere)

Mythology May 3 2005 12:10 AM EDT

Good
Hard to do good, maybe Fat Boy Slim - "Praise you"
For feel good, maybe Bill Withers - "Lovely Day"
Over the top feel good - Tony Christie - "Amarillo"
Or even most over the top happy song ever made - Blumchen - "Nur getraumt".

Bad
Latin feel.. Ancient evil Era-Ameno.
For German evil... Rammstein - "Du Hast"
Rocking evil type theme.. Rage Against the Machine their matrix theme.

Ugly
Travis "Why does it always rain on me?"
or for irony Republica with "Drop dead gorgeous" - "yeah yeah, and he's drop dead gorgeous.."
or for really ugly... "Sting / Police - Don't stand so close to me" :p
And finally for pity... Eric Carmen - "All by myself"

Thought I might aswell give it a go :D

Maelstrom May 3 2005 12:16 AM EDT

For German evil... Rammstein - "Du Hast"

Ack, that's such a bad track. If you want real evil German music, look for Das Ich, Suicide Commando, or The Retrosic. The artists that Rammstein ripped off...

But you want English, and my list is coming in a second.

I finally see May 3 2005 12:17 AM EDT

Maelstrom, I am very pumped for this list.

Maelstrom May 3 2005 12:20 AM EDT

OK, after searching for keywords and browsing a bit in my massive and eclectic music library, I've come up with the following:

Mythology May 3 2005 12:24 AM EDT

Judging / rating music is like saying one colour is better than another... Not that I'm even a fan of Rammstein, but get over yourself :p

deifeln May 3 2005 12:27 AM EDT

orange is SO much better than blue...but seriously...nobody like my suggestion?...all three themes in one song (if you consider album name)
