Changes you still want to see (in General)

onlyyouknow May 19 2005 11:07 AM EDT

I know this has been a "SMALL" change month but I would like to add more ideas to improve the game.

1) I would really like to see more types of shield, seems like a limited variety.
2) Is there any chance that we could change a tat to a ToJ via the artist?

How about you guys?

Quark May 19 2005 11:31 AM EDT

ToJ is a supporter item - don't allow the artist to change to it. It's value will increase as people change out of it, making it more rare. As all old supporter items should be ...

Arorrr May 19 2005 11:37 AM EDT

exactly, like T-shirt in CB1.. those are so extremely rare and even now can fetch good money.

Id like to be able to cancel rentals for fee :P

Nixon Jibfest May 19 2005 9:57 PM EDT

devil's suggestion is an excellent one.

Owners should be able to pull their rentals out anytime they want to while the item isn't being rented. That's been a problem for a long time, especially when the owner sells/trades the item and the new owner has to wait days for it to come out of rentals.

I would like to see the 50% extra Ba we can now buy taken away as it just increases the power of the mighty dollar in the game.

Chocolate Thunder May 20 2005 9:26 AM EDT

1) Cheaper + on the Ax/Ex bows
2) A tweak to the PR/NW link to allow for a small armor penalty free zone (similar to the weapon 2/3 trained experience, but smaller)
3) Missile defense, something, anything..
4) The DM blockin' hat!

Chocolate Thunder May 20 2005 9:27 AM EDT

Oh and I liked Chet's idea for:

5) A big red "I win" button

Since Fireball now hits friendly minions during melee combat, what do you think about having melee weapons and unarmed combat take precedence over it? It would open up strategic options for fighters and mages both.

I apologize if this has already been suggested. I searched through the forums to see if I'm being redundant, but I only looked at the forum topic names, and only in the 'general' category.

I don't think it makes much sense to have magic take precedence in ranged, and weapons during melee

whichever way you make it, SOME one's going to want to have the other option during his round of choice. might as well at least keep it simple.

Fark May 20 2005 3:37 PM EDT

I don't mean to have weapons override all magic during melee; just fireball.

-----------------------------------

For this post, I will say "he" when I mean "he or she," for brevity.

If weapons and unarmed combat take precedence over Fireball during melee combat, nobody is going to want to have the other option during his round of choice unless he is an idiot.

I will prove this. First assume the opposite:

If weapons and unarmed combat take precedence over Fireball during melee combat, SOME one who is not an idiot going to want to have the other option during his round of choice.

First, he has both a weapon (or unarmed combat) and also a spell trained. This is the only situation in which the game makes any decision which he could dislike.

Second, either his "round of choice" is melee or it's ranged. These are the only two "rounds".

If his round of choice is melee, he has fireball and either a melee weapon equipped or unarmed combat trained. The game is then choosing for his minion to use its unarmed combat or its weapon rather than its fireball during melee. Since he disagrees with this choice, he wants his minion using Fireball during melee instead of its weapon/UC. However, he could simply have unequipped his weapon or untrained Unarmed Combat. So we know if his round of choice is melee, he is an idiot.

If his round of choice is ranged, he has fireball and a ranged weapon equipped. The game is then choosing for his minion to use Fireball instead of his weapon. Since he disagrees with this choice, what he wants is for his minion to use its weapon instead of fireball during ranged. Since he wants his minion to have Fireball, and that he doesn't want his minion to use Fireball during ranged, we may assume that he wants his minion to use Fireball only during melee. However, in melee, Fireball is strictly worse than Cone of Cold, and he would have chosen that instead if he weren't an idiot. So we know if his round of choice is ranged, he is an idiot.

So, he is not an idiot, and his round of choice is Melee or Ranged. Also, if his round of choice is Melee, he is an idiot, and if his round of choice is Ranged, he is an idiot. Since the premise has lead to an impossible conclusion, the opposite of the premise is true.

Just to prove you wrong.

"If weapons and unarmed combat take precedence over Fireball during melee combat, SOME one who is not an idiot going to want to have the other option during his round of choice."

I want UC and a Gi on my Single FB mage. I do this so I can get more Evasion out of the combination of UC + equipment than just training evasion.

As a single FB mage, I really don't want my 1 Million level FB overwritten by my 20 str UC.

You could call me an idiot here for not just training evasion and using a tattoo, but way in the future, getting +50 evasion from UC and having that doubled by the Gi (Grants Eva equal to natural UC granted Eva - according to meta stats) might take less xp than +100 Evasion!

I'm not saying it will though! :P

You might also call me an idiot for the Gi's new -10% Magic penalty, but *Shrugs* maybe I've too much of a problem with multiple hits than lossing some of my linear DD damage...
