Maybe this is a dumb question, but why does VA not affect archers? (assuming archers inflict physical damage)

Used to, but it was changed a while back (on CB1, I believe). It is considered a melee-only effect.

I think the idea is that your have to be close to "suck it in." You have to revel in the brutality of your attack. Arrows don't let you do that.

Good point...need to at least be touching the weapon you are inflicting damage with in order to feel the "Aura"...
I think it was just because big CB1 elbows were causing stupid amounts of damage, making VA overpowering.

It's all because of Hoken and his was then x25 elb and soon to be x26. Was never really die with VA in range.
