UC confirmation.../help... (in General)

I always thought with UC you could only hit twice / round.

but with my latest battle:

Sir Gluteus Maximus pulverized Tom [15832]
Sir Gluteus Maximus crushed Tom [14729]
Sir Gluteus Maximus crushed Tom [15343]

its obvious i hit trice. What are some of the variables that came to
this? And btw my UC minion is wearing a 213K ToA. (if that has anything to
do with it?) :P thx.

Mags May 27 2005 6:17 PM EDT

ToA + DX + to_hit granted by UC all play a part. I get triples more often than I get doubles against opponents where my DX is significantly higher and they have no evasion, even without a ToA.

I like the way UC seems to be holding its own here on CB2. Mags you got a pretty tough char going there. I'm glad the 153 evasion was a bug :)

Warchild May 27 2005 7:54 PM EDT

Ok as with any character you can only get 2 DX based hits, anything beyond that is dependent on the PTH of the weapon. UC's pth is (if i remember correctly) the same as its effect number. In other words, if you have a your UC as xxxxxxx(25) then your pth is 25.

Wow! That's a nice UC mags! ;)

Yeah UC works out to be

[VBD x UC effect] (+UC effect)

Where VBD = Virtual Base Damage, something Jon's not released for UC yet and the UC effect is the number in the parenthases, ugg, brackets () (I know monty, I know!). :P

Mags May 27 2005 11:45 PM EDT

Are you sure it's that simple a relationship? An x77 weapon which still doesn't put the game's largest single tank in the top 15 for MPB would surprise me...

moser May 28 2005 12:24 AM EDT

Only BL would put you into the top MPB zone.

[EG] Almuric May 28 2005 12:30 AM EDT

BL doesn't contribute to MPB at all. Most of the really big MPBs are from bows. It's easy to get a few arrows to x15 and get a big MPB.

I'm impressed with the UC. I had pretty much ignored it, but it seems to be a viable strat. Kudos.

Mags May 28 2005 1:10 AM EDT

Thanks, Sefton and Almuric. I'm flattered. :D I'm doing pretty well, and the recent evasion enhancements mark the first point in Brock's career where I honestly feel he's better off with UC than without it. It's exciting.

bartjan May 28 2005 1:21 AM EDT

Almuric: BL does contribute to MPB. A few months ago the MPB was changed to the actual damage of the blow, instead of the unmodified blow.

Mags May 28 2005 1:51 AM EDT

For what it's worth, my UC skill is the most highly trained skill in the game by far. Brock's base UC is nearly double the size of the nearest skill(Conquest's Archery), and the modified UC probably 7.5 times bigger than that. It takes a ton of XP to make this a viable strategy.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 28 2005 5:16 AM EDT

Hi Mags, that is the weapon code for UC. Jon confirmed it in a post a while ago. Bumping it up by 600K is massive! Was it the changes to Combat Gi's that did that?

Mags May 28 2005 1:35 PM EDT

It's a combination of bonuses from my Gi, Helm's, and Elven Boots and Cloak. UC is ironically a very equipment-heavy strategy...

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] May 28 2005 4:52 PM EDT

>_<

I forgot, that as a skill UC would get boosted from dexterity boosts from armour.

Same with Eva, BL and Archery.

Hmmm.. In that case, maybe EG s could be better for archery than Belegs?

Lumpy Koala May 28 2005 10:56 PM EDT

it helps only UC, because there's no limit for UC.

Archery can't be more than it's effect limit of 1.00 (or 0.8 I forgot), but you can save some experience for other things.
