Newbie Giveaway: THF (in Contests)

Maelstrom May 28 2005 12:55 PM EDT

I have a bunch of two-handed flails that I can't seem to sell in auctions, so I'll give them away to newbies.

Are THFs so bad that I can't even give them away? Come on newbies, post so I know who to send to!

s|nG|^m May 29 2005 2:49 PM EDT

And in case you don't know, you'll have to unlearn one of your DD spells to use a weapon.

zeaderan May 29 2005 4:54 PM EDT

i started yesterday and i'm at about pr 3500. i continue to play cb2 because it's addictive. i only stop playing to have a smoke:)

Undertow May 29 2005 4:59 PM EDT

You stop to smoke? haha, lightweight.

And I guess I have some advice for you, too: Dispel Magic cancels out AMF, so you can only use one of the two on your team.

zeaderan May 29 2005 5:07 PM EDT

thanks for the tip, i still have no real idea of what i'm doing. time for a smoke. by the way that doesnt make me a light weight... its hard to play when you have the crave.

Kilobot571 May 29 2005 8:39 PM EDT

I would recomend AMF, but it is your choice

DarkReaper May 29 2005 9:41 PM EDT

I will continue to play CB2 because its a fun game to play and has many features like auctions, rentals, and the many variety of spells and weapons they have. It also has a great community so it makes the playing enviroment better. Thats why I continue to play CB2.

Maelstrom (Woland) 69.195.204.195 DarkReaper (DarkReaper) A Two-Handed Flail ($34264) -- newbie giveaway 11:06 PM EDT

Your single mage doesn't need a weapon, but take it anyway.

You're not going to get away without advice! I would switch from using leather gauntlets to leather gloves. Gauntlets have a dex penalty, and having 1 more point in AC isn't really worth it.

Vazz May 30 2005 6:01 PM EDT

I played cb2 since about three weeks ago.
i'll continue play cb because It's fun and addictive, I can't wait to increase my pr so I can forge better by myself (low pr addicted to forging). But this forging thing is just for myself, not to become a forger, then I can take part in top 50 items. ;-)

Btw, I join this because I also want to know your oppinion about my character (Vazz), not for that THF, I feel fine with my bastard sword.

Maelstrom May 30 2005 8:09 PM EDT

Maelstrom (Woland) 69.195.204.195 Night Raven (Vazz) A Two-Handed Flail ($14871) -- newbie giveaway 8:05 PM EDT

No one else seems interested, so I might as well send to you. But since you've asked for it, I can't give you advice :p

Seriously though, your strategy seems to be good, but if your sticking with the single tank/archer, you probably want to get some armour, maybe a Steel Brig. There's a slight dex penalty, but it's normally considered a good trade-off for the extra AC.

Maelstrom May 30 2005 8:10 PM EDT

And that's all the THFs for now. Good luck to the other newbies out there...

Vazz May 30 2005 8:47 PM EDT

Thank's a lot Maelstrom, for THF and your advice.

Is this still considered as farming? I mean the whole buying things and giving them away to n00bs. I remember getting attacked for doing this.. /shrug.

LumpBot May 30 2005 9:01 PM EDT

I don't think farming is even possible in CB2 except for special ammo. I was under the impression items now respawn from the amount of fighting that day, not the amount of items purchased like CB1.

Mikel [Bring it] May 30 2005 9:07 PM EDT

Hi,
Total newb here, Been playing now for my second day, I'm enjoying it, it's fun to keep on fighting, and I'm learning my way around. I plan to make a donation soon so I can be Italicized like everyone else :P

Zoglog[T] [big bucks] May 30 2005 9:10 PM EDT

Spaceman, if store empties it will still cause a refresh regardless making it still possible but a THF being slightly worthwhile I don't see a problem.
We are good buds Xiaz but is there really such a need to get down on people trying to do good with giveaways? I spent a few long chatmails explaining to Nixon why it would be simple for you to assume that even though I knew you were in the wrong :)
We want our clan to be seen as a nice clan you get on with it, help out once in a while or at least just stay out of people's hair :P

Maelstrom May 30 2005 9:17 PM EDT

I collected those THFs over the last couple months, and haven't been able to sell them; it was definitely not farming the store.

Xiaz on Hiatus May 30 2005 9:43 PM EDT

Hey now, I'm not accusing Maelstrom of anything. And YES! IT IS A GOOD THING GIVING AWAY ITEMS TO NEW PLAYER! But I had to stop doing it because I what I was doing was technically farming. So if it's changed in CB2, so be it. I'm happy.

Good work Maelstrom.

BrandonLP May 30 2005 9:44 PM EDT

Look above, he said he has a bunch of THFs he can't seem to sell in auctions. He already had them.
