50K (maybe more) for best information about laptops :) The Computer t (in Contests)

Details of Contest :
I owe a friend a favour and while I am generally still classed as a "geek" I've not needed to buy a new computer for a couple of years now. He recently asked me for some help and I'm hoping to get a good starting block from one person on here who will get 50K in return :)

Details of what the laptop is for :
Word processing and all the usual low grade stuff. Downloading a lot of movies and music etc.. Multi player gaming (possibly not too high spec games) on a LAN.

Things I need :
A list of recommended components min and max and why. The list should simply include;
HD Size
RAM
Graphic Card Recommendations
CPU
Any other things of note
Plus : A link to two special offer laptops that meet the recommendations set out above and are generally a good price for what you're getting.

IMPORTANT :
I and the guy are from the UK, so needs to be two laptop offers for UK, and not the standard components that the USA is at (we're still a bit behind). If everything is supplied and really good and you clearly put in too much effort I'll bang the prize up to 100K.

Thank you to all who help :)

The 3 most important factors for choosing a laptop are screen quality, battery life and portability (weight/size).

something that isn't in your list that you might like to look for:

how hot does the laptop get? it's not much use if it can't sit comfortably on your lap...

My dad's apple g4 titanium gets burning hot after about 15 minutes, so it really only functions like a portable desktop computer.

my personal recommendation: go to the store and put your palm on the underside of the computers you look at. if you can't leave your hand there for more than a minute, stay away from that computer.
