Man, they keep making movies like this, and I'll keep paying $9 to see them.

Aren't you a sucker....

Undertow June 17 2005 3:44 PM EDT

A sucker? No, I just know the value of a good movie. And since this was a great movie, I got a bargain.

Value, as well as beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.

gooey muppet June 17 2005 4:19 PM EDT

or eye stalks, as the case may be.

maulaxe June 17 2005 5:00 PM EDT

in any case, I wouldn't exactly call those beautiful - especially not when they are looking at you!

So I take it the movie is worth seeing?

xDanELx June 17 2005 5:06 PM EDT

All comic book movies are worth seeing (even if they suck). If it sucks, its worth the amount of criticism that we do. Like, "That wasn't in the comic book!" or "That is SO NOT how it happened!" :P

I never read the comic, but from what I understand Batman's "begining" has been done about 50 million times, each time different.

I like the way it's told this time. It's got that feeling of "this is not just a man whose pissed off and beats up people in a bat costume." but instead gets into some eastern philosophy and psycology about how to trancend the image of mortality.

That's what made the movie cool, was Bruce Wayne striving to make batman more than a man in a bat costume.

gooey muppet June 17 2005 10:55 PM EDT

yeah undertow, that angle has been done before, albeit only in the comic books and novels.

All said and done, Batman is still the only "super hero", without any super powers.

QBsutekh137 June 18 2005 12:43 PM EDT

What are you calling a super hero? Punisher has no special powers either...but I guess he is just a "comic book hero"...

maulaxe June 18 2005 1:43 PM EDT

i have a friend who has a downright-uncanny ability to sense where cranberry juice is in relation to him... is that a superpower?
I wouldn't consider him a superhero per say, but you can have super-powers and not be a super-hero.

batman must be the other way around. (or maybe he is too ashamed of his super power to reveal it?)

Apteryx June 18 2005 2:39 PM EDT

If you enjoyed the comic books you will certainly enjoy the movie. It is much closer to the feel of the comic books, very dark and conflicted. More importantly it didnt have the feel of a cartoon like the previous two movies.

So if you like to geek out over the comics you'll like the movie.

Mem June 18 2005 3:27 PM EDT

Batman has a super power. Money.

Undertow June 18 2005 10:01 PM EDT

He could almost be considered to have "super intelligence."

Think about some of the things he deals with on a day to day basis. He's the modern day sherlock holmes.
