High NW rentals killing fight rewards? (in General)

JacksBloodyKnuckles June 22 2005 9:23 PM EDT

Sorry in advance if this has already been hashed out somewhere else in the forum, but why does rental NW affect your PR? This seems to eliminate all value in renting a high-power item, as the huge boost to PR destroys any gain in fight rewards you might have seen otherwise. An example:

My PR is in the mid 800s, and I get about $40 and 10-20xp per fight. Then I went and rented a piece of armor that boosted my NW by about $330,000, and which pushed my PR up over 10,000 when equipped. The only problem was, my fight rewards plummeted to less than $10 and 1-5xp. I scaled up to stronger opponents but saw no change.

So, yeah...am I missing something?

Your fight rewards is dependent on your score and pr. IF your score is comparable to your opponent's and your pr is lower than his, you'll get higher rewards. If your pr is higher, you'll receive lower rewards. So remove that piece of armour because it just too high for you.

But if it's as simple as that, what's the point in renting at all anymore?

Also, I just got this e-mail. Now tell me THIS makes sense for someone renting:

Carnage Blender automatically retires Characters whose Score:PR ratio falls
below 0.25. Some of your Characters are among these:
TD

These will be retired in one week if their Score:PR ratio does not rise to
at least 0.33 by then.

hope to see you back on CB,

When you rent gears, you'll need to consider the amount of pr it will add to your character. So choose what you rent carefully to avoid massive increase in your pr. Its all about balancing. I don't like nw-pr link but this is what is happening now, so adapt to it.

Or an even simpler answer:

Don't rent. You can do just fine without ever renting a single item. Trust me.

Says the man who would prefer there be no rentals at all, no market economy, no rare items at all, and wants the only thing on CB2 that matters be how many times you click fight.

Careful how dish out quick pieces of advice without explaining where it comes from.

What is up, man? I was merely trying to impart my experience as a CB player. The simple maxim, "When in doubt, don't use something you don't fully understand" coupled with the fact that I reached the TOP of CB1 (score and PR) without ever renting a SINGLE ITEM helped me form an opinion that I imparted here.

Can you perhaps back off a step here, Sef? This is getting HIGHLY annoying. My opinions don't "come from anywhere" any more than yours do. Do you want my family history and medical records so you can fully understand where I am "coming from"? Geesh.

i just want the dental records...=P

But the only thing i've ever rented was a pair of BG's yesterday to see if they helped at all, and i guess they did....lol.

There thats what I wanted Chet. You say trust me and a LOT of people do. And when you just dish out a simple answer like don't do it, I want explanations. Because people listen to you without them. You post around this stuff, and your opinion gets so much weight, I need to know why you say don't do it. The fact that you can say you got to the top spot without renting once IS a GREAT reason to say that. But I did not know that until your posted it right here right now. So thats what I wanted, an explanation. And your right, if you can get to the top without renting once, then you do not need to rent. One extra sentence. I got to the top spot on CB1 without renting one single things, so just dont rent, trust me you do not need it. Poof.

QBsutekh137 June 23 2005 1:38 AM EDT

Ya know, I am not here to give you explanations or add details to your liking. If people want to take my opinion at face value, then here ya go:

Don't litter.

Do I need reasons? Of course not. It is my opinion. I don't think people should litter.

Why does the fact that my opinion "gets so much weight" (if that is even true) bother you so much? It's not my fault, and I refuse to take responsibility if someone wants to give my words more creedence than they are worth (hint: they have decent worth, but there are far better sources around here). I'm not shouting FIRE in a crowded theater. That would be inciting a riot, and that would be wrong. No. I am stating my opinion, and you can take it or leave it. Judging by our discussions this late evening, I would suggest that you leave it.

I'm going to bed.
