How about a mage xbow (in General)

Why dont we have an xbow that targets mages, we already have the enforcers and the assassins which target ST and DX so why not have one
that targets mages, making seeker bolts a more viable item?

OH, you mean target mage POWERS. I thought you meant a seeking Xbow.

:: shrug :: might be too powerful.

Do you mean it just plain targets makes much like seekers do or do you mean it targets a mage and reduces his spell levels?

Why dont we have an xbow that targets mages, we already have the enforcers and the assassins which target ST and DX so why not have one that targets mages, making seeker bolts a more viable item?

-Two things:

A) Why exactly is a seeking crossbow needed? You already have seeker bolts, which make a seeking crossbow completely unnecessary.

B) I fail to see how a seeking crossbow would make seekers more viable. If anything, a seeking crossbow would cut the need for them in the first place.

A. How many characters have a large heavy or light crossbow, only assassin and enforcers which it is pointless putting seeker bolts on because it defeats the purpose of the weapon.

B. If you had an xbow that targeted mages with the size of the bolts X the size of the weapon reducing the strength of the mages spell seeker bolts would be much more viable.

The main attribute of seeker ammo is that it targets mages, yes they do have a higher base but that is not there main draw

The idea that you propose would actually make slayers more viable (since they have the highest base and the weapon would do the mage targeting for you)

Now, with that being said, I think the idea of a weapon that reduces the effectiveness of mages' DD spells is a good one, I am just not sure that this is the best way for it to be implemented. Possibly changing seeker bolts to have that ability or having a weapon that reduces but does not seek (thus making seekers necessary against all but solo mages) would be a good idea, but even those would be difficult to do without upsetting balance.

i already do a whole whopping 3k damage to chet...why dont we cut it some more >.>

its called amf...try getting one

although i do see the point...there is an EC that does the same thing...but there is also haste and GS as well. if you are going to put something into the game, it needs to have a balance...we need a magic augmenting spell

so you can have your bolts, but i want "SpellBook"

what whill this spell do you ask? wll, thats simple, it will bost all DD spells by 70% of its level. so if i have 2 DD spells at 100k, and "spellbook" trained to 100k, i now have 2 170k DD spells.

note: i really dont like this idea, but if you are putting it in, there needs to be some sort of balance, just remember that....also, there would be no way for the mage to avoid these, so he would get hit 6 times in ranged. that would be a HUGE drop in any DD spell.

i really dont see a way to make this fair, but i would love to see some more ideas on it, because in a way it seems logical...

CLAIRIFCATION FOR THIS POOR SOUL:

Why dont we have an xbow that targets mages, we already have the enforcers and the assassins which target ST and DX so why not have one
that targets mages, making seeker bolts a more viable item?

ACTUALLY MEANS:

Why don't we have an Xbow that targets mages AND DRAINS THIER SPELLS, we already have............ one that targets mages, making seeker bolts more viable, because you'd want it to hit the mages, I didn't realise that since Exbows and Axbows already target the minion with the highest respectable stat, so would this bow.
