Two Suggestions (in General)

For newly made characters there should be no NW=PR. Like say if I made a new character and I wanted to put tank gear on him, can't! Just like new players when they first start off some may start a tank, but the NW brings up the PR, and they fell discouraged that their PR is high and their score is not. Well how about say until 100k MPR is when NW should add to PR?

Also, why not make a new *character* bonus, say you get a 50% character bonus for two weeks, which should help people who want to start a new character, this would not affect people who have the new user bonus. What are you thoughts?

First suggestion: 100k MPR is way too much, and the NW-PR link should stay no matter what your MPR is. Start with a whip like any new player, and switch to MM like it says in the tutorial. Or if you have one, use a TOJ or DD familiar and rely on it to gain your first XP (it may even be a lesser). Then when you have reached 1k MPR or so, switch to the strategy you really want.

The new character bonus would be great. XX% bonus on fighting with a new character. How long the bonus lasts would depend on how many characters you have created before. This could replace completely the NUB, which doesn't seem to be liked. It would be even better if you could buy BA to be used for fighting with a specific character (and thus you would pay for the BA the price it would cost if you retired all your other characters). But that is probably asking for too much.

I think you could lower the % of the NUB to about half..........then make it so NW/PR gets added into the equation little by little until the NUB is due to be done for the char.

But if your just starting over after having a high MPR char, then it should stay like it is.

If there was a NCB and no NUB, don't you think there would be a flood of New Characters? I don't know about you but there are already enough small chars. we don't need a hundred to a thousand more.

One of the reasons the NW=PR link was introduced is to discourage veterans from dumping high end gear on low characters, against which new players don't have a fair chance...

What stops someone from starting a new char every 2 weeks, and collect the cash? Would that add something to the game in general?

ANOTHER topic on this!!!

Now my response, straight from the LAST thread on the subject of "problems" with the NUB at low pr:

Did we need an elventh thread on this? Don't you think Jon has heard people ask to have it reduced?

The horse is dead, wait and see what change month has in store and stop beating the poor dead horse. When you beat a dead horse, you just look like a zombie.

And it's NOT that hard to start over, I've done it twice.

Get yourself a sling and you make it to 5k mpr without a fight, because most noobs don't even have a ranged weapon.

Instead of equiping even a base katana, go grab a rapier for a little while, then a main Gauche, then a claymore, battle axe, and so on.

It's not that hard to start over, it's hard to start over without the advantage of all your old equipment.
