Nixon's Training Camp (in General)

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 4:45 PM EDT

In a few days, I will be forming a new EconoClan in which I will train every member how to camp the stores.

If you're interested in learning how to camp, post it here. The clan will not have open membership. If you are already in a clan, you'll need to drop out of it soon to join the Training Camp. Once you learn what you want to learn about camping, you can rejoin your old clan.

Requirements:
1. Experienced players only.
2. Generosity - members must be well-skilled in giving. Greed is not welcomed.
3. Dedication - Just like a fighting clan, you must be willing to dedicate a good portion of your time to learning how to camp.
4. Financial stability - Campers are the richest people on CB; therefore, you must have the discipline to control your assets.
5. Experienced campers not accepted. You guys already know how to camp.
6. Non-USD players preferred, but not necessary.

There will be other stipulations once you join the clan. In the most part, they relate to #2, which I think is the most important requirement.

Undertow July 1 2005 4:51 PM EDT

Wow, doesn't this break somesort of rule? Like opening up the secrets of the Masons?;)

Nixon for next QB!

ps, I might be interested, after the first wave. Too busy right now.

Will [Retired] July 1 2005 4:55 PM EDT

me, I want to know the hours of the day that I miss already that are the best to camp. I think I can add a lot too (google toolbar stuff).... ;)

TheEvolution July 1 2005 4:56 PM EDT

I'm Interested! I'm experienced (not at camping), I probaly won't keep the stuff I camp. I fight in the clan BrimStone (Standard), and I do have dedication even ask my fellow members. I sold my stuff for USD yesterday (a one time thing) I won't sell for USD anymore, unless I really need it. Please tell me if I can be camping material. ;)

Reebok July 1 2005 5:03 PM EDT

Not interested immediately, but this is a great idea (and a really nice thing to do). I don't know how many times I've wondered why no one lets out the secrets of camping.

Nice referance to the masons, too. =)

*/me calls his mason friends to hunt Undertow down for using their name on the internet*

Sukotto [lookingglas] July 1 2005 5:05 PM EDT

I wish I could promise the kind of time commitment that you'd need.
But unfortunately real life has placed heavy demands on my time for the next few months. :-(

I hope you'll do this again sometime in the future Nixon.

SaintMichael July 1 2005 5:31 PM EDT

I'd love to join sending in application now

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 5:54 PM EDT

This will require at least a month of dedication. I will not teach everything at once. Expect to learn stuff other than just how to get rares. You'll learn how to work with other campers, how to stabilize the economy, how to control assets, and other stuff. If your goal is simply learning how to acquire rares, this won't be the right clan for you. I won't get into the "good" stuff until much later.

Undertow July 1 2005 5:59 PM EDT

He will make you feel like grasshoppa. You will learn to sway in high winds like blade of grass while trees around you are uprooted. Welcome to Jibfest school of campjitsu.

Nightmare [NewNightmares] July 1 2005 6:00 PM EDT

I'm definitely interested... as long as I'm not required much actual camping of the store for a while (running on a damn slow computer atm).

spydah July 1 2005 6:36 PM EDT

Better idea, sine you speak of generosity, how about you just post everything you know about it for the general community? Oh, so you really aren't all that generous, eh? mm...

move along, move along.

/\88/\

BrandonLP July 1 2005 6:45 PM EDT

Jibfest, you know I want in. =)

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 6:54 PM EDT

Spydah,
I've thought about just posting everything I learned about camping. I decided that would just be stupid and damaging to the economy. Camping is easy. Being a good camper is harder. What I'll be teaching is more than just how to get rares.

Take your cynicism and move along. You're not helpful.

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 7:03 PM EDT

#5 is retracted. Experienced campers accepted.

spydah July 1 2005 7:03 PM EDT

lol, wait, give me a moment please

Whew, that was funny. Seriously, how many people that you are going to 'train' do you really think aren't going to do exactly what they want as soon as they are out? So you are, what, 'saving the economy from total ruin' for a month or 2!? Bravo!!

NixonJibfest Day is July First.

On to some other points you bring up, shall we?

1) So you get to define what a 'good camper' is? I'd call it he who gets the most profit. Apparently you would disagree. Hmm.

2) Cynicism? The only cynicism I see in my post is where I point out that you yourself are breaking your own rule, apparently the one you take the most seriously at that... hmm, you take issue with me pointing out your own hypocrisy. Imagine that.

3) Damaging to the economy? lol, the only people I know that care about the economy are the people that stand to make the most on it... IE campers. Oh wait, right...

sigh.

Next!

{JS} Jack Sparrow July 1 2005 7:18 PM EDT

I would like to learn how to camp.

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 7:22 PM EDT

1. Yes. I disagree with you. A good camper isn't the one that gets the most rares. That may be your definition, but that won't be the definition for the campers in the new clan.

2. When speaking of generosity as requirement, I'm looking for people who will be willing to give away rares for good causes. I did that when I camped and want that to continue with people I teach. Is that so wrong of me? That is one of the goals of this new clan. I don't think I'll be able to achieve that goal if I just posted everything in forums for all to read.

3. Re: Economy. I disagree.

I'm not sure what you have against me personally but if you have other attacks on me, please feel free to CM me. Otherwise, this post is intended to recruit members for a new clan.

Jason Bourne July 1 2005 8:13 PM EDT

nixon! i am torn!

/me cries

i am closer to the top than i have ever been...i dont know if i could spare a month and still be up there. you know i have wanted to learn camping from you ever since day one :D you and spaceman are like my hero's, and sefton too! id even be willing to give the stuff away, but, alas, i am caught between a rock and a hard place.

what should i do?

Jason Bourne July 1 2005 8:15 PM EDT

oh and by the way...im beating up on Spid for you right now :D

BrandonLP July 1 2005 8:21 PM EDT

My opinion is, if you're even debating leaving your current position, don't. If you want to camp and follow Jibfests advice, I feel it's going to take a lot of devotion.

LumpBot July 1 2005 8:22 PM EDT

I will post once, flame away but I feel the need. This is not generousity in my opinion. You started a clan before and you have been welcome to come back ever since. Doing this not only tore apart CB Services but you tried to recruit certain members! Taking mrwuss and attempting to take me would kill the clan completely. As a previous mentee, I do not see this as a generous gift to your friends. I see it as a gift to random people. Friends first Nixon, friends first.

Also, you giving this help out only destroys the economy. If all these people camped then the only income left for non-campers is forging/fighting. This would throw the community into a constant state of debt to the elite. That is not a way to run the economy. You camp what you need. This is greed Nixon. The fact that you aren't camping "appears" to take the blame from you but rest assured no one like being in debt constantly.

And as of last. I do feel let down. It is bad to see my favorite CB friend and my camping mentor to take such a blind step into the camping world. If everyone knew how to win the lotery, there would be nothing left...

Nixon Jibfest July 1 2005 8:28 PM EDT

Spaceman, that's why I'm not teaching everyone. Hence, "The clan will not have open membership."

As far as friends first...
Giving away rares is like giving a fish to feed a man for a day. With you, my friend, I taught you HOW to fish and you were able to feed yourself ever since. As you said, friends first.

I understand your view though.

Undertow July 1 2005 8:42 PM EDT

I'd like to trademark the terms campjitsu and camp-fu.

{CB3}-HR22 July 1 2005 8:57 PM EDT

I might be interested in joining Nxon. I have since left CB Services, since i thought forging was not my thing, and when i started camping, i could only get rare ammo. I would love to try this out for a while. I have been contemplating on joining a standard clan, but if i can get into camping and actually learn how to be successful at it then i might meet my love after all. Great idea and i am looking forward to it.

SaintMichael July 1 2005 9:56 PM EDT

Why don't you just shut this dwon guys. Nix, you are doing it to get an edge on your competition they will do the same sooner or later everyone will be camping and Items will be overpriced.

[Banned]Monty July 1 2005 10:01 PM EDT

Nixon I'd be interested I just need to clear it by my clan I *just* found

NSFY July 1 2005 10:13 PM EDT

"You'll learn how to work with other campers, how to stabilize the economy, how to control assets, and other stuff. If your goal is simply learning how to acquire rares, this won't be the right clan for you. I won't get into the "good" stuff until much later."

ROFL! This guy has GOT to be a scientologist. The other stuff and the good stuff sound especially intriguing.

CoolWater July 1 2005 10:56 PM EDT

Honestly, I was a camper and I don't remember there's any secret at all in camping. I would be very much interested to join and see what's the secret of camping but unfortunately I'm in a fighting clan now and can't leave the clan. I still camp occasionally and still get rares but I myself couldn't figure out what's the secret in camping.
*sigh*
I guess I'm the only camper who doesn't know the secret of camping.

[EG] Almuric July 1 2005 11:04 PM EDT

NSFY, don't you know to reach the upper levels of camping you have to be 'theta clear'? You see, the camping force surrounds us and binds us to CB2.

Remember the campers mantra: "It is by camping alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the spawning of rares that thoughts acquire speed, that characters acquire items, bot checks become a warning. It is by camping alone I set my mind in motion."

Undertow July 1 2005 11:26 PM EDT

I'm just taking a stab here, but I think it's going to be a lot about riding economic trends and stuff too. A mini economics lesson.

DrAcO5676 [The Knighthood III] July 2 2005 6:52 AM EDT

Hey Nix I would love to join just to round out my experience a bit, but sadly my friend started a clan that I'm helping him keep alive. Next time around or if you could give me some lessons with everyone else I would greatly appreciate it.

Karmic Mishap [Soup Ream] July 3 2005 10:43 PM EDT

I would really like to join, if you're interested. I will leave my clan for a short time, since it's necessary, but hopefully it shouldn't take an extreme amount of time, right?

PsyChO July 4 2005 7:25 PM EDT

I'd really like to learn camping, and i've got all the time needed to dedicate for it.

Kilobot571 July 4 2005 7:41 PM EDT

Life has placed a heavy burden on my shoulders and i am not able to give that much time and dedication. I hope you will do this in the future since im interested.
