Strategy Discussion (in General)

First off I ask everyone that reads this to look at my character.

Shaolin Monks

If someone that can add to this post that wants to put a link to that character please do.

Ok. My strat question is about which boots to wear. I have been trying to decide which ones.

The options are 4 Displacement Boots, 2 Displacement Boots and 2 Elven Boots or 4 Elven Boots.

The Displacement Boots will help with more evasion which my Unarmed combat gives me some evasion also.

The Elven Boots will help my dexterity and also adds to my Unarmed Combat which is a nice plus.

So please feel free to post here what you would do and why. I am looking for all ideas and thoughts about this so I can decide what I'm going to do. Thanks for taking the time to read this and post.

as I said before, go with Elven Boots

I think I saw this in another post, but the non-linear stacking of the skill evasion and the evasion built into DB's seems to make the DB's a lot less effective for the NW cost. Im not sure if you want to totally hedge either way though. I personally like the idea of 2 DBs and 2 EBs, then you could concentrate all your good evasion on two minions, and all your good UC on two others. Maybe favor DX more on the DB wearers and say ST or HP on the EB guys, something like that. In the end, I think splitting them up is best from a protection from a system/game/rule change perspective as well. If UC gets nerfed like archery you might be happy you have DBs or find EBs more useful, who knows :)

well IMO cylo i think the 4 DB's would benefit u most because u would be hit less but a nice big DX would benefit u as well. Your Base DX is to low for the EB's to really do any good cause i dont believe they add to haste DX so for me 4 db's.

tscm July 8 2005 6:02 PM EDT

ok I guess I agree with Seft then..

Quark July 8 2005 6:04 PM EDT

I agree with Dandular if you rely so heavily on haste - EB are going to do little if anything.

[Jedi] Danludar July 8 2005 6:04 PM EDT

well i mean also i forgot to think about how the EB's would add to UC so i mean 2 EB 2 DB combo would be nice or 4 DB would be nice it depends on wat u dump into those EC's

DB: If my assuption is correct, UC Evasion is Skill Evasion and doesn't stack linearly with DBs (as said above) so doesn't make them very attractive. Unless they are massive, and you plan to ignore the UC given Evasion.

EB: With haste, you won't get any Dexterity increase, but it will still increase your UC, before the pluses from Gi and HG.

Maybe stick one DB on the first minion, and make him a massive dodger for archers/other tanks. Or one the first three. And leave the EBs for your last minion, the big killer. Maybe even stick a ToA on the last guy instead of Gi...

well. alot of people have said a tattoo would help, but when i started this char I had the thought that I wanted to prove that a character without a tattoo could work. So I'm trying to stick without the tattoo for now.

Great thoughts everyone. All make sense and are helping me decide.

Shaolin Monks

First select "html" from the dropdown. Then enter the following code:

<a href="http://carnageblender.com/inspect_opponent.tcl?opponent_id=29417">Shaolin Monks</a>

(That long string "http://carnageblender...29417" comes from looking at your manage characters page, then right-click the name of the character, then click "copy link location". That's in FireFox, I'm sure IE has something similar)

As other people have said, the EB and EC are a waste of money, since you do not have any dexterity to augment.
It is true that you said no tattoo, bit with such heavy DE, you should really consider a ToJ.
