Google Earth - I'm impressed (in Off-topic)

OK, so it doesn't take much to impress me but I must say this application is pretty cool.

Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips.

What is it?

Download it here.

You will need a pretty up to date pc though as Google Earth is a broadband, 3D application that not all computers can run.

I saw it the other day, i think it's pretty cool how it drives a route for you to show you where to go...lol.

Wow, that is cool.

What I think is even cooler is some of the Google Maps hacks.

Like this one. Gives you the total distance of a series of points. For the runners on here, it's a great way of figuring out how long your favorite running routes really are. The more intermediate points you make, the more accurate the distance. Not perfect, but then what is?

Google Earth is simply amazing! I've been browsing around the world for the past hour, and I continue to be amazed with the amount of information available. The only complaint I have is that it was cloudy on the day they did the pictures of Montreal ;)

There is a really REALLY amusing part of Google Earth, you can add USER created locations to the map, so you can see pictures of the most crazy crap you've ever seen, like some guy posted a picture of the longest train he's ever seen over in Seattle somewhere. I'll have to play with it some more, maybe even find this "user forum" where I can post my own locations. (evil grin)

after finding the exact Lat. and long. of where i am sitting right now. ha like I'm going to tell youz :P

I played that game that i use to play with a globe when i was a little kid, of spinning it and then sticking my finger somewhere random saying I would go there one day,

so i guess I'm off to either the russian lake Ozero Pikovka or a spot in the ocean between Antarctica and Australia, i think I'm going to need a bigger boat.
