Crazy Addon for CB (in General)

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 5:17 AM EDT

Okay its me again. This time I updated the firefox addon. It might possibly work better now, plus it skips over comatose opponents :)

Also, once you install this plugin, try looking at the forums, now each post is collapsible and the compose new post is inline on the same page.

to install this script, first install Greasemonkey by clicking here and following the instructions: Link

After you have installed Greasemonkey version 0.3.5 (requires restarting Firefox) right click on this Link and install the script.

What else is on your todo list there Verifex?

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 5:37 AM EDT

who knows... I'm thinking of something related to the forge, or whatever, but that might take a while.

[Banned]Monty July 20 2005 5:39 AM EDT

Great Job! I love it!

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 5:44 AM EDT

I was going to build my own form with all the necessary links, but I ran into a small problems of not being able to build the server Month and Year properly to parse into a variable that needs to post.

CoolWater July 20 2005 6:16 AM EDT

How about a script that automatically select the rare gears as soon as you visit the stores and all you have to do is click buy. This will be good for campers and more players will start camping. :)

Aco July 20 2005 6:21 AM EDT

now just get a plugin that automatically fills in passwords, and you got yourself half a bot

{CB1}Lukeyman July 20 2005 7:10 AM EDT

Wow.

{CB1}Lukeyman July 20 2005 7:11 AM EDT

wow, except for the fact that this little box becomes the site now....

Stephen Young July 20 2005 7:44 AM EDT

Yeah, if you could get rid of the form box after you submit, and then reload the thread it would be nice...

Quark July 20 2005 9:43 AM EDT

Great work (although the reply sub-window could use enlarged to be the same width as the parent frame).

Request - can you scrape off screen data from the fight log and write to a file (like in comma delimited format)? I'd love to be able to grab detailed log history about average damage per opponent, average rewards per target, etc. Even if you could just scrape the fight summary (since it's a standard format) that would be a huge bonus.

Quark July 20 2005 9:44 AM EDT

Also - maybe the reply sub-window should close when I'm finished posting a response, and it could then auto-refresh the parent pane to get the revised discussion thread.

Quark July 20 2005 3:15 PM EDT

One down-side to the tool is that it makes the other links on the opponents list less functional. If I try to inspect or delete a comatose opponent, it automatically finds the next awake opponent to inspect / delete.

RedWolf July 20 2005 9:18 PM EDT

some of those suggestions sound like they are illegal...i mean, bots that do a lot of stuff for you

Sukotto [lookingglas] July 20 2005 9:48 PM EDT

Verifex, please remember the "one click, one hit to the server" rule. It's ok to have a script help pick the next opponent, calculate the next forge cycle or whatever. It is NOT ok to have the script play the game for you.

People still have to put the time in, have to click for each BA they spend, etc.

Anyone caught using a bot (or a borg that clicks for you) will be banned. No exceptions, no second chances.

I realize that you have not built anything like that. I just want to remind you about the rules because you're approaching that territory and I'd hate for you to step over the line by accident.

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 9:59 PM EDT

the link changed, I accidentally named it something different.. here it is: Link

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 10:04 PM EDT

Whoops, didn't see that response before I posted last.

To respond to Sukotto: I'm fully aware of the implications in making bots. I've been here two years or so and seen many cool people get kicked out for using bots. Why do you think I made it the way I made it? Believe it or not I actually take that into consideration before I even start writing this stuff. :)

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 10:08 PM EDT

Also, I'm working on a way to put the "compose" box completely in the thread window (when you click "contribute a response") without using a iframe with wacky widths. Hopefully you all will like that better. Also I'm going to fix the other buttons up there associated with the opponent form submit that cause the opponent list to move.

AdminQBVerifex July 20 2005 10:50 PM EDT

I fixed that problem with messing up form submits.. here ya'll go :)

The script now only advances when a battle is won and opponent is comatose.

[Banned]Monty July 21 2005 12:12 AM EDT

fix the back buttoN! :P

Gokhan July 21 2005 12:37 AM EDT

I've got no back button problem... This new technique is awesome... Thx Verifex...

Gokhan July 21 2005 3:40 PM EDT

Hey I have a suggestion, as far as I understand, currently you are selecting the next non * character to fight. Why don't you searching start from the beginning each time, everyone probably wants to fight as high as possible...

Quark July 21 2005 5:15 PM EDT

Cool - script rewrite works well. I think the back button may be Firefox behaving more like IE with Greasemonkey installed - browse too many pages and you can't go back since it loses it from memory cache.

Synco August 2 2005 11:23 PM EDT

What's the difference in the forums? I don't notice anything...

AdminQBVerifex August 3 2005 2:16 PM EDT

alright, here is the new greasemonkey userscript: http://www.defhoboz.biz/misccb2enhancements.user.js

You need the greasemonkey firefox extension installed to use this, and you need to use firefox (duh!).

Admin{CB1}Slayer333 [SHIELD] August 3 2005 2:19 PM EDT

with the new script the "Places" section is a little messed up :P

Synco August 3 2005 2:24 PM EDT

Yeah, it is kind of crowded...maybe move the play-by-play to the bottom of that section? And I still don't notice the difference with the forums. ;)

AdminQBVerifex August 3 2005 3:05 PM EDT

Alright, I put it at the bottom of that section. I actually can't put it in the section next to the "opponents" section because of some crazy JS/Html code Jon put there seems to cause the entire system to break if I do.

Undertow August 3 2005 4:01 PM EDT

It's screwing with my home and train links, the rest is awesome!

Go Verifex!

[Banned]Monty August 3 2005 5:24 PM EDT

if you would just fix the back button -.-

moser August 3 2005 5:26 PM EDT

Doesn't the newest FF versoin fix the back button problem? Just shut down the browser and restart it.

Synco August 3 2005 5:26 PM EDT

Back button works fine for me.

[Banned]Monty August 3 2005 5:28 PM EDT

yeah but having to restart the browser all the time is a pain :P

AdminQBVerifex August 3 2005 5:43 PM EDT

This version of the script shouldn't cause any back button problems at all. The reasons you would have problems with that is that you:

A) Have old version of Firefox (install new version here)
B) Have old version of Greasemonkey (install new version here, you can install version 0.3.5)
C) Have an old version of my script still installed (click Tools > Manage User Scripts, and uninstall any previous scripts I've given you and install this one)
