wow

what with the razr and now this, looks like Motorola's on a roll.

Jason Bourne July 26 2005 12:16 AM EDT

omg...thats one sic phone/mini computer/camera/palm pilot/desktop/address book/ipod/game boy =D

how many things can they cram into something that small?

if it plays CB, i might just have to get one... =)

SaintMichael July 26 2005 12:25 AM EDT

Most likely can't, you see CB's graphic engine is way to powerful. =P

Just got my Razr tonight...nice piece of kit. They certainly have the thinness down pat. I assume this has the same type of frame -- thin yet sturdy. Very fancy.

Windows mobile.....

More than enough reason for me to stick with Nokia/Symbian ;)

I got the Moto V3 Rarz, which can only take photos, no video. Then they go release the limited ed. BLACK Rarz, that is video capable. Grr! Nice phone that, about time Motorola gave Nokia a good slappin' ;)

It's great to see Motorola (the company that employed me then shutdown and removed 3,500 jobs from my town) doing well in the phone market again with new designs. A promise of Q1'06 is something they may find difficult to keep however.

If you're looking for a camera/phone with a megapixel punch then go no further (via your bank account first) than the SCH-V770 from Samsung - the world's first 7 million-pixel camera phone.
The new candy bar style handset has an LCD and keypad in the front. The other side has the camera, flash, shutter and zoom button on the upper portion.
The phone incorporates a 1/1.8-inch CCD featuring total of 7.4 million-pixels (7 million-pixel effective). It supports 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. With a telephoto lens, it can support up to 5.1x optical zoom.
The focus distance is 7.8-23.4. The shutter speed is 1/2000 - 15 seconds. The handset features a 16 million color QVGA TFD LCD. It can record VGA grade video at 15/30 frames per second. The SCH-V770 comes with 256MB in external memory. It supports TV out, VOD/MOD/MP3, electronic dictionary, business card recognition, mobile printing and a file viewer. The handset is priced at 990,000 won ($937.50 @ won 1056/$US 1) and is available through SK Telecom.

Follow the link for a picture of what it looks like. It's a Korean site with Korean text but the pictures of the phone still show. What is that lens all about...

Black V3 can do video? I am not seeing that anywhere... It can play videos that you upload to it (or download from the Cingular network), but I am not seeing any motion capture for the camera.

Other folks have said in reviews that the black version is exactly the same as the silver -- just black. Sounds like I better go read the manual, though, in case there are more capabilities than I am aware of!

The Razr was cool looking and thats about where it's functionality stopped. A cool looking piece of trash.

QBsutekh137 July 26 2005 1:10 PM EDT

Doesn't feel or function "trashy" to me, mrwuss. What service have you used with it? Cingular works pretty well in these parts...five bars in my generally hard-to-reach older brick house... What aspects do you find trashy?

Special J July 26 2005 1:39 PM EDT

For your consumer that takes care of purchases, then it might be a great phone.

complaints I have gotten about the unit,

buttons are hard to use for those with larger fingers,
it is too easy to break,

and the fact that when it was released it went for 400$ on a contract, now you can get it for 19$.

that big of a price drop screams trash.

That and Verizon forking out a large chunk of my pay makes me bias.

QBsutekh137 July 26 2005 6:15 PM EDT

Sounds like decent enough reasoning to me... Keys work fine for me (I have slender fingers), got mine cheap (free) because of a $150 Amazon rebate, and have yet to see if Cingular works out for me overall...

bartjan July 26 2005 6:19 PM EDT

Well, the mailman delivered my Nokia 7710 today, so I'm not supposed to be looking at websites about new phone models for the next 2 years ;)

Sukotto [lookingglas] August 2 2005 9:58 AM EDT

If you want, Amazon currently has the RAZR v3 free after $150 rebate (you have to sign up with t-mobile for a year though)

Phone here for $150
$150 rebate here (expires August 10, 2005)

Thanks slickdeals.net!

QBsutekh137 August 2 2005 11:00 AM EDT

Yep, I got it free (Cingular), though we will see how the rebate plays out (the process is a bit arduous and requires some organization and memory).

My thumb looks about as big as 4 buttons

TrueDevil [AAA] August 2 2005 9:45 PM EDT

I'm just waiting for the SLVR V8 to come out, hopefully there won't be any problem with it. Otherwise, I just have to keep using Nokia.
