Strat Change Contest (in Contests)

Ox [StephenMelinda Gates Fund] July 27 2005 5:34 PM EDT

I am not the best at stratergizing with all these options, and after archery nerf I am pretty lost character-wise. So I will give 75k to the person who posts the best strategy for my character Oxtetor. I would like to stay with 2 minions.

Here are the current stats on my two minions:

Winner will get 100k if the new strat incorporates the new supporter item and I like it.

With the new supporter item and a 2 minion team, the only result will be one minion about 110% larger then the other minion. The big minion is obviously a damage dealer of sorts. The small minion is most likely either a back row base decay mage, which I don't like, or a front row defensive minion such as an enchanter or a wall, but could be a lot of other things. I say we start with this then:

Enchanter/meatshield/mini-wall/?
Damage Dealer w/ RoE

Now let's see what type of damage dealer we will choose. You could always go FB (then make the front guy DM), but that's not creative and is sort of a cheap answer to a serious contest. The usual suspects are Archer, BL Tank, UC Tank, CoC mage, and MM mage. UC Tank discussion is endless and without a Gi or a ToA it may not be wise to choose this one. Spite my use of a MM Mage, I think they are very underpowered. You have some of the gear for archer, but that's because you want to move away from ToA archers. This leaves either the BL Tank or the CoC mage. CoC mages do amazing damage and they can more easily live without the armor and cape gear. You can't also guarantee the BL Tank will have the DX and PTH to hit some of the big boy ToA tanks. So let's go CoC.

Enchanter/meatshield/mini-wall/?
CoC Mage w/ RoE

As for the front row minion. A lot of enchantments will do, but there is really no reason why any enchantment you want could be part of the CoC mage as well, unless you want the AS/GA or AMF/EC combos. Plus things like Haste and Giant Strength would be a waste. A mini-wall would be a nice way to keep the Mage alive as well. The last option I offer is that you could go FB mage with a small amount or maybe even no HP and a CoI. The objective would then be to get in a few ranged rounds hits with FB and then finish them off with CoC, which does way more damage in the long run. Think of it as a fire and ice combo. Just as a note the enchantment that can stand to be smaller should go on the CoC mage when using one the enchantment combos. Anyhow, I'll leave you with these options to choose from. (My thought is that they are all good, it now just a matter of style.)

AS Enchanter
CoC Mage w/ GA + RoE

AMF Enchanter
CoC Mage w/ EC + RoE

Mini Wall
CoC Mage w/ RoE

FB Mage w/ CoI
CoC Mage w/ RoE

Have fun choosing. :)

I would hate to win this contest by being the only contestant. If I must then I'll narrow my own choices. I'll say the the AS Enchanter and CoC Mage with GA and RoE is a good choice. Most teams are either DM or AMF so either way you'll be able to do some damage.

A new strategy idea, huh? Well, let me give this a shot.

First things first, we need to decide what your team should be, obviously. Because of your lack of high level rares and low NW, and the fact mages still rule, I'll say your team's killer should be a mage, not a tank. That just leaves the other. I like to keep things simple. So here is my team suggestion:

EM (mage has RoE)

The enchanter will untrain and train only AMF and AS. Say half and half. This will give you a good mage deterrent. Your mage wears the RoE, and sell all your other equipment to start suiting him up in the finest mage wear CB has to offer. Get his HP to 100k, then train fireball up to 200k. Then proceed to alternate, keeping FB twice your HP. Also, leave the GA, but don't bother upgrading it very much from as is. With the RoE, he will get massive experience and be almost comparable to a single mage.

This team should be well rounded. AMF could be switched for DM if you so desire. You should have good defensive footing. Make your mage tough, and he'll lay the smack down. If they use AMF, your AS and GA will help immensily. If they try DM, your big mage will deal some big damage. Hope this all makes sense. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with.
