About the current FS/WTB issue. EDITED x2 (in Public Record)

Special J August 13 2005 10:48 PM EDT

We have read over your posts, taken in all of the concerns and come up with a solution that will make everyone happy.

The current rule is that 'Bumping' your own posts will result in the removal of said post and a fine of 25k.

This will remain the rule, but we are going to ammend it slightly AND enforce it.

We will allow ONE 'bump' post, every 12 hours, this will help the post be seen for those across the pond, or those who play other hours than the original poster.

You may not have someone else bump it, nor will you bump it at the 10th hour because you will not be availible at the 12th hour.

This lends a hand to those with issues about people not seeing posts, and it lays a ground rule to stop abuse.

If you break this rule you will be fined 25k, the bump post removed and you leave yourself at risk for the post to be deleted if you consistantly abuse the rule.

Consistantly defined by the time you have played to know the rules, versus the times we must remind you.

Thank you, have a nice day.

!!EDIT!!
If your post is bumped up by you after 5 minutes and before 12 hours then you will be fined.

!!EDIT 2!!
Responding to a VALID question ABOUT the items for sale is NOT considered a bump.

Does the 5 minutes edit rule still applies?

If you made a mistake in the post then corrections can of course be made. That is not what a bump is.

Please add this information to the FAQ or help section.
Since it's top-down I don't think it's appropriate for the Wiki.

Thanks.

awww forget it. If people don't read the notice above the reply textbox then I guess they fall under the "stupid tax" provision :-)

shouldn't this be in changelog; not public record? most people wouldn't notice it in PR...

Thanks, guys. Quite fair :)

i think this issue should be voted on by the community. i do not see this issue as enough of a problem to resort to fining people.

CB is not a democracy, if you have an issue with this we can go back to the rules word for word and fine everyone who bumps any post at any time.

Cb is a Jonocracy; this has been established and understood for a long time

I'd like to play the devil's advocate here. Why is this rule even considered? What harm does it do to anyone if a post is bumped when it's only going to expire in 3 days? I see alot of posts that I have looked at and no longer interested in revisiting the thread. I don't get annoyed if I see the post at the top of the page--I just don't read it if I don't want to. I really just don't think that anyone is abusing the bump situation anyways. All we need are more rules in this game, right?

On another point, why is it only the FS/WTB forums that have this new rule? After all, all the different forum areas compete for the same "Active Threads" placement. It didn't even really seem to be flooded with sales anyway.

And as a request, any chance you powers that be could remove all the pointless one word 'bumps' on 'The One Word Game!' thread and fine their respective bumpers? It's continually been hurting my eyes with the way it constantly sits atop the active threads, mocking me in its own haughty way. And that has to be the worst case of pointless bumping I've ever seen- it makes those sale rules change bumps look like nothing. I'm starting to doubt that thing will ever die. (I would post my complaint on that thread, but I'd be breaking the one word rule)

Another point. Just get a mate/clan mate to ask a question about your sale, then answer him with a pre planned 'bump'.

Job done, and fine evaded...
