The Chess Match (in Contests)

This is where the game for this contest will be posted. Two teams, which have already been chosen, will take turns in a game of wit and strategy so that they may split a prize pot.

It is preferred that moves be announced in descriptive chess notation.

This is a game of patience. Your not going to finish this match today anyhow. Just fill the role of captain by making sure the next member of your team knows it's their turn. Plus, the more you think over your strategy, the better.

The method presented by Pawn Mrwuss will do, but I believe Undertow tried the actual chess notation. It was pretty much correct. The notation works not by specifying a square to square, rather you simply say what piece goes is which location. You may need to specify additional information, but this rarely is needed.

Often only one type of piece can possible make a legal move to a particular location. The king and queen are of course excluded, the bishops are impossible unless you lost one and got it back later on, and the pawns never conflict either (or at least I can't think of a situation where they do). The only ones you may need to specify are mostly just the rooks and the knights. If it were the case that more then one of the same piece can move into a location then Undertow would be correct as long as only one of the two knights were starting from the king's side. However, all you had to say was "knight to queen's bishop 3", but very good job none-the-less. :)

As for the turn order MegamanV went first and it seems that Roya went out of order. So it's going to look more like this:

But even then twistedness or someone else may be skipped so this turn order is always subject to change, I only suggest the respective teams keep their order and that's all.

Derek also has it reversed sort of. He was suppose to use the first set of numbers and letters since Derek is on the black team. Undertow and the rest of his team uses the second set of numbers and letters. The game is organized from each player's own perspective, meaning your own king is always starting in "king one" (K1) no matter which player you are, black or white.

So what Derek wanted to say was "KN1 to QB3" or "knight to queen bishop three"

i think this needs to go back a few moves - it looks like there was quite a bit of confusion and moves that didn't get updated...

So what exactly is happening?

well up to the move I posted (2 turns ago) i'm pretty sure things were fine. how about if anyone who posted a move and who was confused, speak up now or forever... um, something. (hold your pawns?)

oh, and by the way, Derek's move was done after the chess board had been rearranged properly, so he has no excuse to take back his move

We're good, Vestex is saying he missed Derek's move, and black needs to rethink they're move based on that. Roya I'm assuming had that move in her thought processes when she made our move.

Exactly Undertow. It is assumed that Roya knew what move she was making because Derek's move was considered.

Anyhow, I have time today to commit to this game. As I see it we should make a few changes. First of all with Mega out of the game I should be out as well. Second I think the 6 hour wait is too much. I will now change it to a half hour wait. Hopefully we can finish this game soon as I'm in fear of losing interest in it.

Sorry if you see a broken link I will be fixing that in later game boards. I will be making a fresh post for to finish this game explaining the changes.
