Play this game! (in Off-topic)

AngryZac September 2 2005 5:17 PM EDT

Last time I posted about this game no one replied. So I assume no one played it. Which is a shame because it's a very fun game, it's half strategy, and half action. That's what I'd say at least. Anyway, here is the web site. Last time I posted a site where you can play it online, but it's much better downloaded.

That is some fun stuff, and I see they have a Mac version...going to try it there when I get home so I can have the sound blaring and hear the wonderful death "splats!" *smile*

Sweet, I actually got some people to play it. Glad to hear you both enjoyed the game as well :)

Game is amazing...just to tell folks a few more facts since the thread has resurfaced:

- 400 (or is it 500? I can never remember how many levels per module) levels built in, plus a multitude of user levels (and you can download more). In other words, if you like it, you are set for a looooong long time.
- You can edit your own levels, and while the author(s) call the editor "rudimentary" I find it to be incredibly easy to use. Granted, I suck at level design, but if you like that kind of thing, it is sweet.
- I find the game to be a lot like Lode Runner. If you liked Lode Runner, I can virtually guarantee you will like this.
- Cross platform, written as a Flash application. Runs great on a Mac, Windows, or Linux machine. Small download.

I played it quite a bit this weekend. The levels are presented in small chunks, where your expiration time runs across all of the levels in one group. You might gain a lot of time on one, and then barely eek out the next. But it alleviates frustration, as once you are done with the group, you are done (unless you want to go back and beat previous times).

My fingers hurt from playing, and I found myself burning hours at a time. Also shouted obscenities a lot -- the good way, where I knew I could do it but was just screwing up. Challenging, yet very, very fun. Like I said, it is a lot like Lode Runner in its varied level designs and puzzle/action/escape presentations.

Finally, the game is physics-based, meaning you can fall from great heights, get blown to pieces, get zapped, shot with missles, or pegged by chain guns. Some levels are explicitly made so that when you screw up, your body dies a gruesome death (as do the subsequent parts of your body that get blown off).

OK, that's enough of my yappin'...GO PLAY! *smile*

Slayer, it would help if you told us what levels it could be from, so just say which levels you have unlocked, that would help me atleast.

Wow. I've just discovered this--thanks to this thread--and have already lost 9 hours of my life to the little bugger.
