The Rune of Solitude now grants to its wearer a bonus to his ED of about 1/3 the RoS lvl. There is no aura effect for the ED bonus.
The RoS resistance to DM for the rune's wearer is now the same as for the other minions.

Hey hey, now this tattoo is getting useful!

Good change, but needs more to make it a viable tattoo choice.

Niiiice. This is startin' to sound pretty good. Also sounds like Corns may come down possibly, as well?
Relic
September 7 2005 12:55 AM EDT
Corns can be worn in connection with other armor and tattoos, I doubt this will have any effect on Corns.

September 7 2005 12:57 AM EDT
Yes, but why spend 3 mil on a 10% increase when this tattoo will do so much more so easily? 1/3 its level added to your ED, plus reduction of DM? Yay for AS/GA teams!
doubt it. Corn + RoS would make incredibly awesome enchanters.

So the ultimate mage strat will now be....2 Minion team with Enchanter going all AS and the second FB mage going all FB with a HUGE CoI and HUGE DB's. Nice indirect tank nerf and FB mage boost...
Relic
September 7 2005 1:07 AM EDT
I neglected to add that the Enchanter has a nice big Corn and RoS on as well in my above strat example. :)

You're forgetting something, Glory.
If the 1st minion has the tattoo, the mage is left free to armor itself like mad, as well. (MCM! yessss.) So it can be a supermage + armor! As some would put it, w00t! I like the idea, m'self.
Relic
September 7 2005 1:11 AM EDT
Even more reason to switch to that strat, it is cheap, almost no upkeep expenses other than occasional armor upgrades on only one minion. Think of the expenses of keeping up with this strat being a tank, almost impossible without immense NW.
QBOddBird
September 7 2005 1:13 AM EDT
....and the best news is, if the huge mage strat gets big enough, we can all just switch to AMF, AS, GA strat with an armored tank in the back so we can milk them. If a big strat comes out on top, that's awesome - just means I get to change mine to beat it, and milk it for all its worth.
/me smiles so hard it hurts

umm RoS bug?

I was wondering why your decay hit my enchanter with a HUGE AMF on him.
are things that bad up there you have to pick on lil ole' me?
BTW if the amount of ED I got is correct, this tat now owns.

I wanted to see how much AS boost you were getting with the RoS. :)

I still own Rune of Suckage with my smaller PR character... ;)

September 7 2005 2:35 AM EDT
Now there a bunch of nice little strat that come to my mind
1) E: AMF, AS. RoS and Corn.
2) M: DM, CoC/FB, Prot/GA. CoI, MCM and DB.
:)
Maybe this should be called Rune of AS? ;) I think that's the only minion this will be used on!

Hehe...you should have heard what the bug said back to him.
put this beats on a Haste enchanter for a 4 T team...and WHAMMO....
Here's a suggestion. Have the rune REFLECT the DM.
Why? Because its a rune of solitude! By deflecting DMs you never know if your own offensive enchantments will be reduced by your opponents DMs, thus making it counter productive to cast offensive enchantments.
Not sure how two RoS would interact, but cool stuff could happen.
lol I'd love to see the DM bounce back and nail their own spells, except for the ones that I am casting on them ... like my AMF .. nice idea though .. and yes cool stuff could happen
Mit: this thing doesn't need anything else....it's the freight train of tat's right now.
Balance is just a matter of getting the ratios right. I'm sure Jonathan is going to be keeping an eye on this thing to see if the 1/3 he set up works. I'm sure it will be moved up or down based on his observations. Just consider the ToE and how many revisions it has gone through.
In any case there is enough room to make it reflect instead of deflect if the power is interesting enough.

Does it negate your own DM, btw? I've been wondering that.
I was wondering that too--if it did it should not affect the AMF you cast as well.. Any info on that from anyone?
If it makes your minions resistent to DM then another minion casting AMF should be ok--if it worked right that is.
AFAIK, only your own DM affects your AMF. The RoS only affects your ED and DM resistance.

I don't think anyone else saw, but it wasn't just DDs that it was affecting before... it was skills, EDs, DDs and EOs. That would have been one sweet bug if novice hadn't noticed ;)
It's just logical that if your own DM affect you, then adding a RoS would negate that effect as well.
Besides the DM question above, how does the Corn and the RoS stack. Whick comes first? Or do they both just get applied to base level of the ED?
QBOddBird
September 7 2005 1:05 PM EDT
I'm hoping the RoS gets applied first. That'd boost the Corn like mad.

September 7 2005 1:19 PM EDT
I would assume like all other tattoos, they both act on what you trained on the ED, just like how EGs don't boost dex given from a ToA.
with +7 corn and RoS: Ablative Shield: 255,768/164,148 (122,778)
RoS only: Ablative Shield: 232,788/164,148 (111,748)
Corn only: Ablative Shield: 187,128/164,148 (89,831)
No RoS or Corn: Ablative Shield: 164,148 (78,801)
So it looks like yes, the Corn only ups the trained ED, not the RoS boost.
my RoS is at about 205k.

September 7 2005 4:53 PM EDT
Hm. That's a pretty big boost it gives.../me is thinking of changing his 308k IF to a 300k RoS.
QBOddBird
September 7 2005 5:40 PM EDT
Ablative Shield: 372,699/274,609 (178,905) Mine is 294k, and this is the difference it makes. Just thought I'd give another example. =)
novice's example gave a 40% boost and Oddbird's gave a 35% boost. Oddbird's RoS is about 30 larger.

The bonus is a fraction of the tattoo XP rather than a % bonus against trained level.
