A song to make you smile? (in Off-topic)

Ok, what's the song that is guaranteed to make you feel good, put a smile on your face or lift you up when you're down? Honest answers preferred - if it's the theme song from a favourite programme when you're a child for instance rather than what you think is cool thats what I'm wanting to know...
Bare Necessities from the Jungle Book. Loved it when I was tiny and whenever I hear it now it makes me grin from ear to ear! The Clash, The Strokes, Razorlight, Libertines and any number of bands get me over excited but if you want to make me happy put on an old Disney soundtrack....
/me is an RPG-er .. whenever I hear the battle music from FFVII I just get into a zone and nothing can bring me down lol ... Those were the days :)

Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
And it can't be anyone else's cheesy version either - it has to be that growly, rumbling, mighty Satchmo voice...

Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over.
OMG Chappy! Have you seen the FF series? They use the same music when they fight a 'boss'. :)
I've got a few. Hedonism/Brazen/Weak by Skunk Anansi, Jessie by someone I can't remember (it's a fav of my sis's), Just about anything of the Early Prince songs. Um, recently I've got hooked on the sondtracks of (UK versions) Shaman King, One Piece and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. :)
'm sure there are loads of others! ;)
I've seen a couple of the episodes, but I couldn't get into them ... now I can't wait for the FFVII: Advent Children movie to be released ... that looks amazing ... speaking of which it souldn't be too much longer ...

Wild Thing - Jimmi Hendrix.
Takes me back to my school rugby days in the early 80's. Oh, the smashed noses, black eyes and cauliflower ears...those were the days.
Also,
Paint it Black - Rolling Stones.
Those guys in the helicopters with the machine guns looked so cool when I was a younger...

The Rezillos with their tune Top Of The Pops just came on the radio and so I jumped around the house with a very silly grin on my face. Classic Scottish punk pop from the late seventies !
i too have many that make me smile, one that will always work though is:
the b-52's ~ dance this mess around

Frank Zappa - Dancin' Fool, always makes me smile
Drift Away -- Dobie Gray
Better Days -- Bruce Springsteen
Dock of the Bay -- Otis Redding
Shout Bama Lama -- The Detroit Cobras (I love the chicken, baby!)
Back In The Saddle -- Matraca Berg
Midnight Train To Georgia -- Gladys Knight And The Pips only without Gladys! Hands-down funniest SNL musical interlude of all time. I can't hear the song without the mental image of the guys doing their Pipthing, through all those back-up vocals (choo choo), with no lead.
"In the Closet" -- R. Kelly Admittedly, that's a whole different kind of laugh. I just can't get past the earnestness with which he does In! The! Claawwwzeht!.
He looks at the closet (closet)
He walks up to the closet (closet)
He's close up to the closet (closet)
Now he's at the closet (closet)
Now he's opening the closet (closet, closet, closet)
It's just as good with "I. Like. The. Green. Kool! Aid." or "But. I. Had. No. Pants! On."

I sang Dock of The Bay in karaoke recently - one of my all time fave tunes.
And once I sang backing vocals for a drag queen doing Midnight Train at a New Years Party. And yes, did the woo-woo's....

Bast, I must demand that you go to the following site since you're one of the few that actually finds that "song/urban opera" to be incredibly lame:

I die with laughter when he says vibrate. I haven't seen any of the original videos, aside from Chapter 1, but the link above is all five videos done by a Sims 2 player and it just adds to the hilarity.

The ads on that page could potentially be considered non-PG, so if an admin needs to fine me and remove the link, that's fine.
Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead
Always brings a smile no matter the situation. Sure there are lots of songs like that for me, but this one in particular never fails.

When Sefton and I were dating.. we lived states apart. Every night, on the phone before we hung up.. he would sing "Dream a Little Dream" by Louis Armstrong. Whenever I hear that song now.. I smile and thank God I don't have to spend hours on the phone anymore :)

I'd have to say that Europe's The Final Countdown puts a big ole grin on my face every time I hear it. That and anything by the Polyphonic Spree. I am a sucker for some old Disney music though...

The Final Count down is a good one.
But my ALL TIME smile maker is Saturday Nights (All Right For Fighting). Now, the Elton John original will definetly still accomplish the smile making procedure. However, I'm talking Nickleback's cover. ESPECIALLY on a Saturday night. There is nothing like getting done with work on a Saturday, having that come on the radio, and peeling out of the parking lot.
Just about anything by Eminem. I just think he's so friggin funny.
Alot of the DDR music that I have in MP3 format.
Peter Pumpkin Head, but any of the bands that have covered it.
Bittersweet Symphony! by The Verve.
Really, if music doesn't make you smile, why the hell are you listening to it?

'Really, if music doesn't make you smile, why the hell are you listening to it?'
Nicely said Undertow! My better half always knows when I'm liking a new song because I start grinning ear to ear. I've always preferred music that lifts me up - if I'm feeling low I don't need that feeling reinforced!
Good choice there with Bitter Sweet Symphony - great tune!
