Confused about being blocked. (in General)

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:26 PM EDT

Umm... I was going through attempting to forge and kept screwing up and then I got the anti bot thingy. I couldn't read it either time and ended up being locked for the next hour or so or else I could pay a fine of 7k which I really don't have. Can anyone help me?

Synco October 10 2005 8:28 PM EDT

Enter in the top word in the bot check.

Synco October 10 2005 8:28 PM EDT

Bot-check trainer

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:33 PM EDT

Well, I did really good for two words and then got stuck. I can't figure them out. I'm really bad with old english style letters.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 8:40 PM EDT

Oh my, "old english style letters" - you mean writing?!?!

I bet you have no trouble with that irritating "1337" style of typing, or whatever you call it.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:43 PM EDT

Actually, I don't bother that childish form of writing. I can read papyrus style simply but the old english form of writing, which is what is used in the bot-detection program, is something I have trouble reading and it being overlapped makes it even harder. So before you make childish remarks, please feel free to get to know me. Thank you and have a nice day.

Special J October 10 2005 8:46 PM EDT

Some people have trouble getting used to reading it, over time it will become second nature.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:47 PM EDT

*laughs at himself* I just tried to use the "Tracing Page" for the letters and I still can't get it downpat. Hopefully I'll figure out. And thank you mrwuss. Although I must admit that is a humorous name.

Tezmac October 10 2005 8:50 PM EDT

Don't worry about it, you sound like an intelligent person and you'll get used to filling out the bot checks. Just like mrwuss says, it'll become second nature to you. Don't worry about the "vets" that may insult you, not everyone here is a jerk.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:51 PM EDT

Okay, since I only have about half an hour left on my wait time, I have another question, why won't the chat load for me? I get the screens but yet there is a Java problem. It won't connect.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 10 2005 8:52 PM EDT

no one was nice enough to tell this guy not to forge yet?

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!

InebriatedArsonist October 10 2005 8:55 PM EDT

It would help us to know what version of Java you're running, for starters, not to mention whether or not you're behind some sort of firewall.

Special J October 10 2005 8:55 PM EDT

Don't forge until you are over 100k MPR, the chat issue could be several things.

First update java, you can do so at java.com, after that it may be a firewall error.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 8:58 PM EDT

Bah. Firewall problem and I don't have admin rights on this PC since its a locked system. I'm at school, and not gradeschool, college.

And no, noone told me not to forge, I was just wandering around and using random things.

Special J October 10 2005 9:12 PM EDT

I have the same firewall problem when I am at work, no way around it, sadly.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 9:12 PM EDT

Sorry for jumping to conclusions, Silvarian.

It's just that those are in normal modern English writing, and not in

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 9:37 PM EDT

Okay, then I can't read cursive. *shrugs* Either way, its a pain in the butt to read for me.

Sukotto [lookingglas] October 10 2005 9:48 PM EDT

Yes it's a pain. It's the price we pay to make it so hard to cheat.

You have 2 minutes to answer. Take your time.
Know that it is always a legit 3 or 4 letter word.
You can practice using the trainer linked above.

After a while you learn to read them with ease.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 9:58 PM EDT

New question! What am I to do when I'm broke, can't afford the transfer fee between characters and all of my minions are dead?

Synco October 10 2005 10:01 PM EDT

Heal your minions and fight. I think you should have enough to heal.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 10:03 PM EDT

you have enough to heal now

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 10:04 PM EDT

Thanks Mael! I was confused on what to do.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 10:10 PM EDT

You shouldn't normally run out of cash. You make more than enough money when you win against opponents for that not to be an issue. But, it looks like you've been fighting opponents that you lose against too often.

[SoM]CupofJoe [Peoples Bank of Carnage] October 10 2005 10:42 PM EDT

I was just making last minute checks on the forums before I go to bed

Could someone help him on his strat.

You're spreading out to thin. Ask these guys for some advice. They'll treat you right

Maelstrom October 10 2005 10:51 PM EDT

Heh, where to start! Fire all but one minion. Unlearn everything on that minion but HP, and train FB. Sell the useless weapons and armour, but a ToE. See Grant's Strategy for more details.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 10:56 PM EDT

Alright. Even though I really like having a lot of minions.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 10:59 PM EDT

it's possible to use many, but expensive, and slower to start off.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 11:00 PM EDT

so I should just pound away with one until... when exactly? or is one the way to go? and I've already read the guide

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 10 2005 11:06 PM EDT

another question, how do I get tatoos? And I think I spelled that wrong.

Synco October 10 2005 11:07 PM EDT

You can get tattoos* from auctions.

Maelstrom October 10 2005 11:18 PM EDT

It's possible to stick with a single minion the whole time, but personally I find it boring.

You should stick with one minion until you've bought yourself a good tattoo, and saved enough to buy some good equipment for another minion, normally a tank.

I started off with one minion, and I bought my other minions around the 150k, 300k and 400k MPR marks.

Undertow October 10 2005 11:19 PM EDT

Your not gonna be able to affoard a tattoo straight out the gun, it'll take you a little while.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 12 2005 5:30 PM EDT

Alright guys. So now that I'm back again, work has been keeping me busy lately. Anyways, I was loaned a FF so I have that equipped with my FB guy. And I was told I don't need to raise Str or Dex while raising FB. Is that true? Thanks for the help guys, ya'll rock.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 12 2005 5:36 PM EDT

yes no need to train anything but fb and HP for a while...when you figure things out a bit more then start looking at hiring other minions, training DM or AMF..

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 12 2005 5:39 PM EDT

*Is now a card carrying member of the "Fireball Flingers and CB Addicts" fanclub* Okay, this is working out much better than having four minions. I mean, I've only lost like four rounds lately.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 12 2005 5:42 PM EDT

Big Question! Whats better? A level 70 Fire Fiend or a Level 120 ToE?

Arorrr October 12 2005 5:43 PM EDT

Arorrr (Goldminer) 199.36.20.5 Silvarian (Amijes) $10000 -- nub gift 5:35 PM EDT.

10K for you to start out.

In 2 months, you will make more money than me by doing this:

1. Stop forging.
2. Do not spend money (yet)
3. Untrain all STR/DEX exp. You don't need them as mage.
4. Train 1/2 in HP, 1/2 in FB.
5. Save money until you can afford a full Fire Familiar (FB tat). Buy a base one for 200-300K.
6. Keep trainning 1/2 HP, 1/2 FB until you reach about 50K. Buy some leather gears that does not have any penalty to magic (cab, regular glove, boot, cloak and hard armour). Do not spend any $ on upgrade or weapons.
7. Start investing in AMF or DM (depend on whatever route you want). I refer AMF for now. 1/3-1/4 in AMF, rest split between HP & FB. Start saving money for a Corn and AG.
8. Reach about 100K PR, train some in DM (about 10K exp total or so).
9. Keep fighting until you reach 200K. Then you can divest your strat or keep the same strat.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 12 2005 6:14 PM EDT

Dude, it's not a loan. ;) Sorry I couldn't get you anything bigger/better.

A level 70 FF will do around (give or take ranged penalties) 35 damage to a single target.

A 120 ToE will stop somewhere around 12 damage from every hit you take. Up to 75% of the damage done.

I hope this helps!

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] October 12 2005 6:15 PM EDT

Oh and the ToE will reduce maybe 6 damage from every AMF bcklash you take.

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 12 2005 6:21 PM EDT

I just can't believe how totally cool the FF is. I mean, I'm having way too much fun with this thing. And I made my mage into a FB, AMF and GA freak. With plenty of hit points. And it seems to be doing pretty good for me.

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 12 2005 6:30 PM EDT

GA is better for 4 or 5 minion teams, I'd try and put as little as possible into things other than FB and HP for a while

FailBoat[SG] [Forever Alone] October 12 2005 6:33 PM EDT

Should I unlearn GA then or just leave it as is until I finally get to the point where I add another minion?

AdminQBnovice [Cult of the Valaraukar] October 12 2005 6:52 PM EDT

I'd ditch it for now, you'll likely end up having room for it later.
