question about pr (in General)

How does untraining affect your pr/mpr?
Looking around my score, most people have a lot less pr/mpr than me. I have done a fair amount of retraining, in the name of experimentation - could this be a reason, or have I just got a rubbish strat?
I did try taking an MPR reading and untraining, but the MPR figure didn't drop as much as the XPs lost (ie 88% or whatever) so I'm a tad confused

TIA

Your strat needs tweaking.

Issues:

1) No armor. Armor is cheap for the non rares. Get some cheap mage armor and equip it, have it enchanted up a tiny bit.

2) GA + FB is a massochistic combination, particularly with a ToE. The ToE allows your team to last into melee where you get blasted by your own GA.

3) Decay + FB is an odd combination. Decay means you want to last into melee, FB means you don't. You do realize that FB causes splash damage to YOUR minions in melee rounds don't you? Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

4) You are extremely vulnerable to AMF since you spread your mage power among three mages. You are extremely vulnerable to DM since you have no hitpoints except that provided by AS.

5) Your tank is largely ineffective with only 1/4 of your experience going to him. I'll bet he whiffs a lot except against pure mage teams.

6) Your DM is dispelling your AMF. Unless you know what you are doing it is best to stick to one or the other.

I would do one (or more) the following:

Concentrate on ranged combat. Lose the Decay and Unarmed Combat, stoke up those FBallers and get rid of the GA.
Concentrate on melee. Change the FB to CoC or MM.
Get rid of all the Defensive Enchantments except maybe a token Protection spell, train hitpoints, and beat on DM teams.
Buy some cheap armor for your mages. Turn your UC minion into a wall and spend some decent money on him for a mage shield and decent armor. A wall is an excellent minion with a ToE in the team!
Join a clan and get some experience bonuses.
Lose the AMF or lose the DM.

If I were you I would do the following:

Minion 1: Wall character with Evasion, lots of hitpoints and armor, equip with a mage shield when you have the money.
Minion 2: Enchanter character DM or AMF and some cheap armor.
Minion 3: MM Mage with some cheap armor and small Protection.
Minion 4: CoC Mage with some cheap armor.
Put your ToE on minion 2, 3, or 4.
Possibly have the enchanter get GA.

Wow, that's some tweak - I wouldn't like to be around when you decided on a major overhaul!!!
tbh, I would have rather had an answer to the pr question than a catalogue of mistakes :-D, but thanks for your time - I'll need to think some more when I'm not at work ;-)

Your pr/mpr is directly tied to the amount of xp you have (either banked, or spent on skills/spells).
When you untrain something, you lose some of the xp so your pr will go down a little bit.

The main reason that other people at your score level have a lower pr is because they are using better strats than you. As you improve your strat, your score/pr ratio should improve.

Miteke's advice looks reasonable. You can also check the wiki or ask your mentor for other ideas.

Hmmm. To many changes? you want something with a little less change then? Go for ranged damage:

Minion 1: Archer (Instead of UC)
Minion 2: MM (instead of Decay)
Minion 3: FB
Minion 4: FB

Reink your tattoo to a TOA, Fire Familiar, or Steel Familiar. You are going for a quick battle with this strat and do not need the extra hits the ToE gives you as much as you need the extra punch power.

lol, thanks miteke, but I was halfway through the ovehaul.
Right, I'm at around 2:1, which with a bit more *tweaking* I think I can improve. (Esp Armor)
Sorry, I kept UC, but allied it with VA (which I had swapped for GA), because the idea of an unarmed man gaining strength from his weapon makes me laugh :-D
Your other points were much appreciated however :-)
The DM/AMF thing was deliberate (there was a debate about the same thing recently) but I can't now see how you can get DM working high enough to replace something more beneficial.
Once again, thanks for your help
