idea for a new skill....stealth (in General)
stealth would allow your team to sneak up on your opposing team and thus skip ranged combat and jump right in to melee rounds. i am not sure how exactly this would be implemented, but thought it might be an interesting idea. would all minions have to have it? would there be one success "roll" or three, as in one for each ranged round?

It would have to be an individual minion thing, because as of right now there is no skill that links your minions, and I don't think Jon would change that.
Good thing it's a skill though, because this and BL would ROCK.

this would screw up the combat system IMO. Having even one minion having the stealth ability will have the battle skip all of the ranged rounds. This really affects fireball mages, and archers, and probably more. just had to screw up your idea :-P
Yeah, I like the idea in theory, but when you realize that this completely turns off any ranged weapons and the advantage of FB, it's kind of dumb. This ability, as presented, would completely remove an insanely large amount of stuff from CB. But it would make the slower teams happy.
Why not also introduce an ability, say 'run away', that made the fight end after 3 ranged rounds? That would be just as fair. And it would sure make the ranged killing teams happy. Heck, with both 'Run Away' and 'Stealth' introduced, it would be fair for everyone!
Now if you wanted to make 'Stealth' workable, try adding a downside (IE: archery only adds an extra round, BL is only in melee, etc). How about they're untouchable for ranged- but the character then sits and does nothing for the first 3 rounds of melee?
How about these skills;
Engage. A minion with this skill spurs thier team on (Or just moves really fast, forcing their opponents into melee quicker than usual), reducing the number of ranged rounds by 1. Max rounds are still 25. (Three minions with this trained would reduce ranged totally)
Delay. A Minion with this skill holds up the advance of their opponents, increasing the number of ranged rounds by 1. Max rounds are still 25.
Modifiers from Engage/Delay cancel each other out.
These could either be fixed costs, have to be kept at 1/4 of a Stat (Dex probably, go go enchanters) or could be compared against each other.

I always thought the idea of a the skill 'Lazy' was a good one.
One of your minions when trained in this, will do nothing but smoke and eat pizza and then when the time comes for battle will just sit there and wonder why there's a massive geezer with a big hammer bashing on his head...
These skills listed here are interesting ideas but really have nothing to do with the fact that CB is basically a Gladiator game. Your team is here to fight, not creep around, not steal items from other teams. And we have a minion type to delay the other team - it's called a wall...
Minion takes no action, even with a spell trained or weapon equipped.

I can't keep up that kind of artificial enthusiasm for long... *sigh*
How about this for a skill, Defend. A minion with this trained would randomly jump infront of any minion in front of him and take the hits that they would receive. Since this skill would most likely be used on a wall minion it should be trained to around 1/5 hp for max effect. This could allow a extra minion to last another round or even into melee to split fb or coc damage that extra round or two it would take to win.
like "Protect The Ladies" in Final Fantasy 9!!! :D

Here is an idea how about this for a skill assassinate it take a certain percent of your opponents life off depending on its level and some other factors

I would have prefered an instant death skill but that wouldn't have been fair, so I had to improvise. Im not so sure hitting someone with a big stick is similar but hey why not.
Instant Kill was the spell FoD. It was removed in CB1.
Percentage Drain is just Decay. 50% of your targets life gone.
