It bothers me that people are using the term NUB (the new user bonus) to mean Newb (a new player). I'm seeing people saying "I'm a NUB", "My friend's a NUB", and "Those darn NUBs are taking over".
How can a player be a new user bonus? Please stop the abuse!

calling people nub was around long before Jon made it mean something else, it has meant newb for quite some time across many games.

here i will try to put it into terms more ppl may understand...
counter strike terms..
newb: someone that just got the game, may have some skills but doesn't know the maps or controls yet.
If i see one i tend to answer most questions and if they show a team spirit i would act as back up for them for a few rounds to keep them alive longer.
Noob: could be a newbie whose just stupid or the vet thats a jerk...tends to be the person that will flash-bang his own team or not try to go disarm the bomb.
Nub: from my own experience admin-ing this is what we called the...umm poop for brains jerks, would either get banned for their foul mouths and poor sportsmanship or for hacking/exploiting...umm i guess Jon sees it different O_o?
but ofcourse this is all just my opinion :P

Very education, Adrian. I had no idea that "nub" was used elsewhere.
However, when used in this game, with capital letters, I believe it's safe to say it means "new user bonus".
