UC Base Damage (in General)

MrC [DodgingTheEvilForgeFees] December 23 2005 9:15 PM EST

A few newbish questions once again from me.

1: Does it have a cap? (i.e can I keep leveling it up much like a DD spell without it stopping)

2: How is it calculated? Yes, I know you don't know. I just want your theories.

3: Stats, anyone have any accurate way to predict how high your UC has to be to reach the next level? - Not talking about base damage anymore, just the x and +.

the (1) effect is the X and + for your UC, with the unknown base.

it is not capped, only at the experience you put into it.

Thank you, Shade.

1. I don't think it has a cap. Just keep training... ;)

2. I truly have no idea how it is calculated. I once believed UC base damage is a variable, not a fixed number, because of the randomness I usually get in terms of damage. But, the damage always stays within some limits though. With that in mind, it could just be a base damage of 67 or something, and the randomness could come from EC, STR, DX, etc. So my answer here is, that I don't have one :p

3. Mine's up to 86 now, but I have no idea when it'll hit 87. Maybe you do?

A fixed base damage?

Wow... talk about taking the wind out of the sails. If so, then I have to seriously review my strategy and it's long term potential.

That's an interesting thought and I think you may actually be right there. I have no way to prove it, although if no one else does I'll probably look into it eventually. I just think that it makes sense to have a fixed base damage rather than a complicated way of calculating it factoring in your UC level, ST, MPR, etc.

Would be easy enough to test. Get say a katana at x47 and compare it to my Unarmed Combat: 212,434/48,291 (47) on a character with similar ST. If it does more or less damage then you try a different weapon, eventually you'd get close to the base damage. (say, within 5-10 of the exact number).
Then get a x86 version of whatever weapon was closest in damage to my UC and compare it to the damage you do, if it is similar then UC base is constant. If it is not, then MrC can breathe a deep sigh of relief.

why not do it much much more easy?

get a character and train a level of UC on it that matches X10 (or X5) and have a few weapons that have X10 or X5 also.

then compare what those weapons do for damage with the minion on base, unprotected minions with the damage the UC does.
