West Point Bridge Design Contest (in Off-topic)

Students age 13 to senior year can compete in this Bridge Design Contest. Build a bridge using the West Point Bridge Designer that can support the load of traffic, and have the lowest cost possible. Several top teams (1 or 2 person) from each Region advance, and have a chance to win the grand prize of a $10,000 scholarship. The top 5 teams in the final round also receive laptops. More info is available at http://bridgecontest.usma.edu/
My record currently is $166,591.86. This ranks me #71 in the Northeast region. How well can you place?

That bridge-building software looks pretty neat, but I don't think I'll try it. Given my complete ignorance of such engineering, I don't want to be put to shame by high school students ;)

I only see software for Windoze, and doing it all on paper is a little too much work for me ;)

Well, I too am quite ignorant of this stuff, but I'm down to $174,690.03 so far.
