Nokia 770 (in Off-topic)

I am typing this from my nokia 770!

Fun stuff. Everything works except chat.

Prove it

Maelstrom February 20 2006 8:55 PM EST

Sure Sut, and I'm typing this from my iPod... :p

QBsutekh137 February 20 2006 9:22 PM EST

How can I prove it? OK, I didn't type it, I tapped it...but it works.

Too bad fighting is so onerous...no down enter. More like Enter, down, Enter, down, left, Enter for each battle. Or a lot of tapping... *smile*

Pretty cool so far, though, and I haven't even done any hacking or installing of other apps... I am hoping it can be my full PDA, spreadsheet, browser gadget.

You can sleep next to it and have an alarm on it wake you up every 3 hours to burn BA. tap tap tap tap it will sound like morse code throughout the night.

That's the plan, though burning 160 could take 20 minutes at that rate...not sure I want to burn the midnight oil that badly...

Maelstrom February 20 2006 10:32 PM EST

Maybe write a nifty little script like Verifex did to cut down on the extra button tapping?

QBsutekh137 February 21 2006 1:07 AM EST

Well, easy come, easy go. I was about to try installing some more apps tonight, and I turned it on, and blech, white screen. It made sounds and I could hear clicks when I tapped, but everything was lines and grays. Pity, the display is really very sharp and colorful. I don't think I have ever had a gadget die so quickly. Most of the time it has been in my possession it was simply charging on my phone stand downstairs...

Two out of my three Psions (a Series 5 and then 2 Revos) ended up having displays go bad. Of course, that was after years of hard use. I can't risk display issues for something I am going to try to use a lot, so back in the box it went, FedEx label printed, and it will be dropped off at the FedEx site tomorrow on the way to work. At least I got to try it, and now I can think about whether or not I want to deal with the hassle of a new gadget. I never thought that fire would burn out in me, but apparently it has. Now it just seems like work. *smile*

Thanks Bart. I'll assume Sut isn't spoofing his user agent! ;P

Yeah, it was real...it was just short-lived...
