Home PC has died... (in Off-topic)

>_< And it's our gateway, so Claire can't even get onto the internet...

After a week of running like a dog, I've just fallen foul of the 'missing/corrupt \windows\system32\config\system' problem. Also, My XP disc (I do have a legit copy!) has vanished into the depts of my house...

*sigh*

Strange thing is my comp keeps trying to boot itself after I turn it off. All I can think is that someone is trying to remotely boot it, but I'm sure I've not got WOL working... >_<

Well, I know what I'll be doing tonight. :'(

Mine became ready for the junk heap about 2 months ago. Just groaned and died. Not even power...

Still gave me an excuse to use the wife's lovely G4 powerbook! ;)

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 6 2006 8:28 AM EST

I wouldn't mind, but mines not even a year old yet, and custom built! >_

I blame Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 SP2... It's been wonky ever since I installed that. (Well and DDO, but DDO needs MS .Net...)

Yeah, wasn't so bad when mine died, considering I got it from a friend who owed me £70 and didn't have the cash. It was so old it still had the original Windows 98 on it. If I played CB at the same time as listening to tunes on Winamp the whole machine would crash! ;)

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] March 6 2006 8:39 AM EST

There's nothing wrong with Windows '98! :P

QBJohnnywas March 6 2006 8:42 AM EST

Nothing at all! Especially on a machine I got almost for nothing! Held together with string and chewing gum!

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] March 6 2006 8:47 AM EST

I have found duct tape a much more sanitary fixative than chewing gum.

AdminQBGentlemanLoser [{END}] March 6 2006 8:53 AM EST

Blu-Tac ;)

Or Gaffer Tape (Its not duct tape, or duck tape!) and rubber bands!

If you hear from me tonight, then I've fixed my PC. If not, I'm sure I'll post tomorrow at work. :(

Show me a man with sanitary considerations a priority and I'll show you Adrian Monk. ;)

Don't buy an acer I had one and it broke in less than 2 years. and to the comment about Adrian Monk, my sister acts like him sometimes it is funny I call her monk when she does and she gets really angry. That show if funny.

ight, the repair console helped, after I had re loaded my HD driver. I can log back on (and use the internet now..) but I had to re install the majority of my driver and my system is still running like a dog.

The home network wizard refuses to open for some reason... >_<
