The ultimate code used by a wide variety of Konami games. Hence why they call it the Konami code. It is indeed a thing to pass down to your children.

Unappreciated Misnomer March 8 2006 9:50 AM EST

i thought the original code was U D L R B A Select Start

YOU March 8 2006 9:56 AM EST

that's the original code. You are right again.

[T]Vestax March 8 2006 10:31 AM EST

If you read the article I referenced you would know that there are many variations of it. up up down down left right left right B A Select is the most widely accepted because it appeared in the most games. Start has never been part of the code itself but is often appended because usually the code is entered while the game is paused. Hitting start was necessary to continue playing.

Wikipedia also has a list of games that featured the code. Note that its not always the same but they are all very similar.

One code to rule them all
One code to find them
One code to up your stats
And in the console bind them

In the land of Konami, where Gradius lies.

(p.s., you forgot the B, A)
