Thanks to Lukey for interviewing Freed. Gee... I nearly published it until I realized the
mistake I made while making the image.
Hah that mistake is quite funny.

"{cb1}Freed: I am an IT trainer. I'll bore you if I go into details of what software I train on."
I was interested in knowing. :P
Does it involve cake or cake manipulating software..? o_O

I am curious to know how much Freed has spent in USD on this game... freed if you would like to go over your pay pal transactions and get the community a figure that would be great... I had this label before but it was directed towards me as a negative label, so I have cut back on the spending but I am curious to see if you have over spent me as far as usd is concerned...
if you don't want to let us know that is fine but I will try to go over mine soon and post it... also this would be nice if some other big spenders would put there totals here too...

$0000000000000000.00
Oh yeah, I'm a big spender indeed.
Phrede
March 19 2006 1:36 PM EST
I spent over 2000 in cb1 if thats of interest - I dont even wann think what I spent here :(
I know I'm around 1.2 k now, since I purchased Matrim's MH. I don't keep an exact figure, just a rough estimate. I think I'm like a second tier spender, probably not even in the top 5.

I also hold the record for the person most able to spend money and still have a crap character :)

My woman would kill me if she knew this but here is my total spent on cb2.... $8,307.00
{cb1}dyno
March 20 2006 1:58 PM EST
WOW. That type of money could pay off my college debt. I knew thousands of dollars were spent by you/freed, but that number still caught me off guard.
Dark Dreky
March 20 2006 2:25 PM EST
A pretty impressive figure. Now here's my question... or concern, I guess...
CB1 died. I never played it so I do not know much about the details of its closing, but I recently asked in 'new players' if everyone thought CB2 would die like CB1. Pretty much everyone said it was inevitable... so, why spend USD when ultimately you know you will lose it all? Knowing that CB2 will someday die and all money spent on items/chars will eventually just disappear??
Having said that, I do not know the specifics of CB1's death... was it abrupt, were players informed, should I make a new post?

Oh the horror that would ensue if this conversation were taken any further...
To circumvent the horror Vestax envisions and ignore the latter questions: so long as he doesn't hope to see his $8k ever again, or worse still imagine it coming back as $16k, it doesn't matter. Some people might lose that much on skiing or playing the ponies or sending their children to college, after all.

Hmmm cb gear or college? LOL! Sorry but for someone who's broke (me) thats crazy talk
[T]Vestax
March 20 2006 3:02 PM EST
"Ponies! I was talking about the ponies! Oh god, why did you mention them?"
Meanwhile, somewhere in the vast universe of on-topic: what Bast means to say is that people spend money all the time for things that do not return an investment. College could be considered an investment, but only if your education becomes fruitful. There are many who find themselves paying for an entire year of drinking an partying that amounted to no return in investment because they had to drop out of school.

Dark Dreky:
Why spend $50 on a PS2 game that you play for 20 hours and then put on a shelf?
Why spend money at a spa when all you have to show for it is perhaps brighter skin and less-tight muscles?
Why spend money on a CD that in a few years might be meaningless because of changing tastes?
Why spend monthly fees on games on Everquest or World of Warcraft?
Why spent extra money for "nicer" beer or food products?
Why doesn't everyone drive a Yugo?
I think it is a testament to CB's greatness that people spend lots of money on the pure entertainment of it, even knowing that it is a "sunk cost". Not everything in life is an investment -- sometimes money spent is simply about living. *smile*
Phrede
March 20 2006 3:42 PM EST

Pft. Don't listen to him. He knows nothing of spas!

17600 in the last year but that includes cb1 :(

My eyes popped at Dawg's total, but that - that's rock star level opulence, man, take a bow! Encore! Encore! :)

I knew our Freed was mildly crazy when I pointed out a misspelling in one of his item namings and he immediately paid to have it corrected. Or maybe he's just scared of Bast.

March 20 2006 8:26 PM EST
Not shocked. I'd have to have a beating heart to be shocked.
Honestly though, it would be a crime to judge how others should spend their money. Particularly if the money flows to the poorer people here at CB. Not to mention the fact that Jon is always in need of a new pair of shoes. Think of it as Socialism through Capitalism.
(I know what your thinking, "that's an oxymoron", but you would be wrong. An oxymoron is more like 'Capitalistic Socialism' or 'Socialistic Capitalism'. :P )

That's quite the amazing sum. That being said it pales in comparison to the 60k in student loans I owe. Cheers to expendable income!

It will not be the same this year - the plan is to spend far less and anyway I have to save up to get married to Bast :)
Congratulations! And then the two of you can adopt me! ;)

Sadly, Bast could spend that sum at the spa in a single day.

But to get back on topic, good interview guys!
