A real shield for mages. Maybe something with no DD reduction, some DX reduction, no AC, and gives a small flat reduction to AMF backlash. I'm thinking of something fit for a mini-mage.

I'd even go along with it if each upgrade actually reduced your DD by 1% in trade for a high amount of AMF protection.
Odd, but decent, I'd still rather see a Helm that did something similar.

Remember, originally there was a mage shield on the FORS, but people kept *ahem* asking nicely for one, so Jon gave us the current shield.

Magic Booties!
Put them on your mage and his ability to dodge the AMF backlash is increased, though his damage is still reduced by it. They cause you to slip, however, so your DX and skills are reduced, and there's no Armor to be gained by a pair of booties!
I love booties!

Yes yes.... and they also grant you a new DD that allows you to give your opponent a good firey kick.

Well that was uncalled for. It's not like I asked for something highly unbalanced.

I thought it was a good idea, but rather adapted it to fit boots, since mages only wear DBs currently. They already can have a Corn and AGs and a CoI, and power shields don't work with tattoos.

Only one more reason why it should be a shield. I don't think Single FB Mages need another boost.
Actually, I think gloves would be a better choice than a shield. Gloves would force mages to choose between greater DD (AG's) or reduced damage from AMF. This would provide an alternative for both Tat wearing mages and normal. It would also reduce the overall advantage to mages as a whole because AG's could not be used in addition to the AMF reduction.
As for a mage shield, I'd be tempted to see one that drops trained skills to 0 and provides some bonus to mages- either bonus to DD or AMF.

AGs already reduce AMF. By raising your DD AMF goes down.
Not as much as a percentage reduction would in most cases, but you do have a point.
