I can't find this info within the help or FAQS, so sorry if it's obvious.
When I fire a minion, do I get XP or gold or anything? or do they just vanish.
I want to fire a guy so my other guys will have more XP, but he's reasonably high level, so I don't want it all to go to waste.

They vanish. It goes to waste. This is a choice you actually have to think about the pros and cons on.

awww man. Time for some heavy thinking. the reason is that my score hasn't been moving up like at all, so I want to do something about it.

They get sent to me and I make them work in my sweat shop.
Your character isn't really that high and neither are any of your minions. The decision to make a smaller team is now. It only gets worse the longer you wait. My honest opinion is that you should drop your team to at least 3 or 2 minions.

And decide whether your minions are exclusively enchanters, mages or tanks rather than hybrids. And get them reordered so the guys doing the damage are on the right.
