What warrants a News post? (in General)

The last few "News" items I have seen have been New Sub-Admin, polls about jokes ... Stuff I don't care about. But then Jon adds a new skill and changes my Magic Missiles, and the only inkling I get about it is that my Magic Missiles stop working ... I know he made a post in Changelog, but I would have appreciated a News item in my sidebar as well.

I guess the policy is only to post items under "News" that are not at all newsworthy...

Based on the "News" page under community: new supporter items, QBS, (sub)admins, polls, and game downtime are all considered news. Changes are apparently not considered news.

That's why we have a separate section of our forum dedicated to changes. Here, all (or at least almost) changes are described. What makes this even better is that you can set forum alerts, and have CB email you all changes to you.

Anyway, your Magic Missiles didn't stop working, they even got improved.

... rss feeds, too.

No, changes aren't "news." Never has been past the first couple change months.

I used to have the forum notify me when something was added to the changelog.
It was very nice for keeping up with the changes.
The downside was I got notified *every* time someone posted to the changelog.
Is there any way it could be made to notify only when a change is added, and not notify of the subsequent posts?

Initially, MM stopped working for a little while ... After a bugfix, they were improved.

Oh well. Guess I'll just have to check the "Changelog" forum :/
