Who is the "me" in the List of Players Lost but not Forgotte (in General)

QBBast [Hidden Agenda] March 30 2006 10:12 AM EST

Is it you? It doesn't seem like it could be YOU, really.

Someone is adding descriptions to the list of people found there that include "helped me a lot" and "I knew him when", which is all fine and good except -- who is me/I?

Maelstrom March 30 2006 10:47 AM EST

I am you and you are me.

QBJohnnywas March 30 2006 10:51 AM EST

I thought I was me. And you are we. And We Are Devo.

Maelstrom March 30 2006 10:53 AM EST

Are we not men?

NSFY March 30 2006 10:55 AM EST

WE ARE DEVO! D - E - V -O !

QBJohnnywas March 30 2006 10:57 AM EST

No, but we are going off topic. So behave.

Perhaps people should be encouraged to sign their remembrances. But then what if they too leave CB? I think the statements stand on their own. There is a certain 'rightness' for me in not knowing who is playing tribute. It doesn't distract from the main subject.

That's just me though.

Maelstrom March 30 2006 11:03 AM EST

I guess it's like anonymous graffiti?

QBBarzooMonkey March 30 2006 11:04 AM EST

That's not nice. First you say me is right for not knowing something, but then you infer that me is unimportant because "it's just me". And who's on first?

To clarify:

For those who sign off on their own, it's obvious.

For those who are added post mortem, it's weird. "Was always very helpful" seems more befitting than "helped me a really lot", since we can't know who "me" is, unless Me is willing to step up and start signing his entries.

Hmm, I'd never seen that wall, thanks for the pointage Bast. Whilst wandering through, I stopped for a moment to wonder what would appear on my headstone...

Saw Todd's link, noted that 'his Spid grew", bah, Spid was my char silly people, get yer history straight. Spid is a misspelled Spin, Dutch for Spider. I had not used it for so long, I had forgotten it was Spin, not Spid, ah well, most of the other stuff was right... mostly.

Entertaining read, should add Chromium... ;)

hmm, did I miss ProtestBoy, or is he absent?

To paraphrase Jon's quote on adding to the wiki:

"It's a Wiki, edit it yourself. Asking someone else to do it makes you look a pr--, er, I mean, lazy"

spydah March 31 2006 5:37 AM EST

I agree, it's a good thing I didn't ask anyone else..

'nother quote for you.

"Quoting completely unrelated quotes makes you look like a dumb... um.. llama"
