Public Loan System (in General)

Ragatag March 31 2006 1:11 PM EST

Was wondering if it would be great if there was a public loan system from Central Bank to players, cause i think that would take away the hassle and also make loaning money more effective.

Ragatag March 31 2006 1:12 PM EST

and easier :D

Yes, who needs player-to-player economic interaction in a community-based game? :p This is the way Jon's been going anyway, and I don't like it. Bring back community interaction! Anybody remember the social experiments that were Nixon Jibfest's camping sales? I loved that.

I'll eat my hat if Jon starts giving out "public loans" via the central bank.

Jon might just implement it to spite you now. I'd like to see that. :O)

Guys it IS a sweet and comforting idea. But you just can't mix admin money and the public game. Because then how do you punish them for not getting the money back on time? Ban them? It would have to be far too harsh to make it worth it imo.

Great idea! Can't wait to see Monty getting a loan of 50mil and selling it to a player for USD.

*cue the moody Film Noir lighting

*cue slow close-up pan as Monty addresses the group:

"It'll be the Carnage Blender Job, see. CB's 11. This is the big one, the big score, see. We each borrow 60 mil from Central Bank, see. The you all send it to me, see - we'll say it's PayPal transfers, see. Then we sell it all in big chunks to Freed & Dawg, see. By the time they ban us, we'll all clear a bunch of Benjamins, easy, see. Muwahahahahahahahaha!"

*Fade to black

;)

hahahaha, nicely done BM...

great to see you guys like my idea, thanks for the input

Perhaps to expand on your idea would be a way to loan money similar to the auctions/rentals setup. Retaint he player-to-player action, but implement a system for it just like with sales and rentals. Theoretically, you could actually just allow "money" to be "rented" in the already existing rental system.

bartjan March 31 2006 11:59 PM EST

NightStrike: items in rentals are protected by not allowing it to be transferred away from the person that rented it. "Renting" cash would be pointless if you can't transfer (=spend) it away from you.

Foolio: you aren't around here long enough to have known Monty. Any loan system (or just about anything involving credit) must be Monty proof, or else it will be abused.

The best way to get money is to earn it! Borrowing money seems great today but it will kill you in interest tomorrow. If you're good enough to keep your word you're good enough to play the game until you make enough money to buy what you want. In other words if you want it bad enough just take the time to save up for it and save us all alot of hassle.

actually i find interests are usually very low and very easy to pay, and loaning is way easier to do instead of just maing your own money, but thats just me.
